Job Description

The Harvest Lead oversees daily harvesting and gutter washing operations, ensuring tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. Acting as the primary point of contact between the Harvest Technicians and the Operations Manager, this role coordinates workflow, monitors crop and equipment conditions, and ensures compliance with safety and sanitation procedures. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical knowledge of harvest systems, the ability to lead by example, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and team communication.

Team Coordination & Leadership

  • Lead daily harvesting and gutter washing activities, ensuring team adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
  • Assign tasks, monitor progress, and provide on-the-job guidance and support to Harvest Technicians.
  • Train new team members on standard operating procedures, safety practices, and equipment operation.
  • Communicate team needs, equipment issues, and process updates to the Operations Manager.
  • Foster a positive, safe, and collaborative team environment.

Operational Support

  • Operate and assist with the maintenance of harvesting and gutter washing equipment.
  • Ensure gutters are properly cleaned and sanitized prior to re-seeding, including manual removal of plant material and soil.
  • Inspect crops during harvest, reporting any quality concerns or abnormalities to QA staff or supervisors.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts for gutter washing and harvesting systems to reduce downtime.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all harvest areas.
  • Oversee and assist with transplanting activities to ensure healthy crop establishment and efficient workflow.

Quality, Safety, and Compliance

  • Enforce safety standards and sanitation procedures across all harvest operations.
  • Participate in safety meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure proper disposal of organic waste and materials according to company and environmental guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate harvest logs and assist in reporting yield and production data.

Schedule: Sunday-Wednesday, 4:00AM-5:00PM

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; agricultural background preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Harvest Technician or similar role in an agricultural or greenhouse environment.
  • Proven ability to lead small teams or coordinate workflow in a production setting.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience operating and maintaining greenhouse or harvest machinery.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive manual tasks for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in greenhouse environments with varying temperatures and humidity.
  • Physical stamina to perform long shifts while maintaining quality and efficiency.
