Classification Title:

Museum Operations Coord I


Classification Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in an appropriate area; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.


Job Description:

  • Responsible for the recruitment and coordination of the museum’s internship program.
  • Manages the overall calendar of programs and activities of the education department.
  • Coordinates tour rotation schedule of volunteer docent tour guides.
  • Coordinates scheduling for planned tours and presentations for a wide variety of groups.
  • Coordinates travel, housing, and hospitality arrangements for visiting artists, scholars, and performers in connection with public education programs.
  • Maintains contact mailing lists for outreach for all programs and for potential program participants.
  • Supports docent education with scheduling, audio-visual and set-up arrangements, and materials preparation. Attends and assists with docent training.
  • Attends and supports education programs, which may include evening and weekend programs.
  • Provides information to the Museum Marketing and Public Relations Department used to produce and disseminate promotional materials in support of Department activities.
  • Assists with data gathering and preparation of grant proposals.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Education, monitors annual budget for the department.
  • May supervise interns and work study students.


Expected Salary:

$43,888 - $46,444


Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in managing multiple schedules simultaneously.
  • Excellent organization, planning, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-directed and organized, ability to work independently.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a team environment.


Preferred:

  • Familiarity with budgets and financial business processes.
  • Experience in the creation and analysis of data collection.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with educational technology and software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, scheduling software, etc.
  • Familiarity with museum tours and programs is a plus.
  • Previous administrative experience is helpful.
