Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.
• 8 years of experience in mechanical test engineering for consumer hardware.
• Experience with test fixture design, assembly, development, system bring-up, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with factory automation, ongoing system monitoring, and predictive maintenance.
• Experience with design validation, DOE, and failure analysis investigation.
• Experience with 3D CAD modeling tools such as NX and SolidWorks.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience with mechanical tests such as force testing, water leak tests, and durability and life cycle testing.
• Experience in high-volume consumer electronics manufacturing with smartphones or similar devices.
• Experience in mechanical design principles, fixture design, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience working with Product Data Management (PDM) systems such as Agile.
• Knowledge of DFM principles and a track record of providing effective feedback on product design.

As a Hardware Testing and Manufacturing Engineer, you will join the global operations organization working on factory testing and automation for Google’s first-party consumer hardware products. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing mechanical manufacturing test fixtures and processes. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $144,000-$209,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

• Drive the technical execution of mechanical manufacturing test and automation strategies.
  
• Oversee the design and validation of mechanical test fixtures from concept to mass production.
  
• Collaborate with product design teams to provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback and improve manufacturability.
  
• Develop new mechanical test methods to address product changes and quality requirements.
  
• Analyze test data to identify trends and implement root-cause corrective actions.
