Job Description

The Hardware Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, testing, modifying, and improving electronic equipment, assemblies, and systems at the electronic component level. In this role, you will troubleshoot hardware failures, perform root cause analysis, complete repairs and rework activities, and verify product functionality through testing and validation. You will utilize specialized tools and electronic test equipment to ensure products meet quality, reliability, and performance standards while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electronic equipment, assemblies, printed circuit boards (PCBs), and systems to the component level.

  • Perform diagnostic testing to identify hardware failures, defects, and performance issues.

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical documentation.

  • Replace and rework electronic components using soldering and desoldering techniques.

  • Utilize oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, signal generators, power supplies, and other test equipment to evaluate product performance.

  • Conduct functional, environmental, and validation testing of repaired or modified hardware.

  • Document repair activities, test results, failure analyses, and corrective actions.

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to resolve product issues and improve reliability.

  • Participate in root cause investigations and support corrective and preventive action efforts.
    Recommend and implement improvements to electronic hardware, repair processes, and testing methods.

  • Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Associate degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related technical field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing electronic hardware.

  • Ability to diagnose failures at the board and component level.

  • Proficiency using electronic test and measurement equipment.

  • Experience with soldering, desoldering, and electronic rework techniques.

  • Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and technical drawings.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

  • Basic computer skills and experience documenting work activities.


Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • IPC soldering certification or similar electronics assembly certification.

  • Experience supporting manufacturing, service, repair, or laboratory environments.

  • Familiarity with surface mount (SMT) and through-hole component repair.

  • Experience with root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Knowledge of quality systems and electrostatic discharge (ESD) procedures.
