Job Description

The Hardware Systems Specialist I is responsible for supporting the development, evaluation, testing, integration, and lifecycle management of Stallion's Security & Surveillance hardware platforms. This role serves as a technical resource for hardware validation, IP-based surveillance systems, networking, and low-voltage electrical systems while ensuring products are reliable, supportable, and scalable. The position partners closely with the Business Applications Specialist, Manufacturing, Procurement, Technical Support, and Field Operations to ensure seamless hardware and software integration.

Role Priorities / Responsibilities:

  • Research and evaluate new hardware technologies, components, and products.
  • Build and validate proof-of-concept hardware solutions.
  • Configure, test, and troubleshoot IP cameras, networking equipment, gateways, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Perform hardware compatibility testing across supported platforms.
  • Configure and validate TCP/IP networking, PoE, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, VPNs, and cellular connectivity.
  • Troubleshoot low-voltage electrical systems including power distribution, relays, breakers, batteries, chargers, and wiring.
  • Partner with the Business Applications Specialist to validate hardware and software interoperability.
  • Develop and maintain product documentation, wiring diagrams, SOPs, and build standards.
  • Maintain product BOMs and approved hardware configurations.
  • Maintain Product lab equipment, demo systems, firmware libraries, and testing environments.
  • Perform firmware validation and regression testing before product releases.
  • Support Manufacturing, Technical Support, Sales Engineering, and Field Operations with hardware-related technical guidance.
  • Identify root causes of recurring product issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Recommend product improvements to increase reliability, manufacturability, and supportability.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree, trade school, military electronics training, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience with surveillance hardware, networking, or low-voltage electrical systems.
  • Formal engineering degree not required; equivalent practical experience is highly valued.
