Your role and responsibilities

Are you interested in shaping the next generation of high-quality, scalable and easily configurable softstarters within ABB's Electrification business area?

Join our team of motivated engineers and contribute to the development of innovative products used by customers around the world. As an R&D Engineer within electro

nics hardware development, you will work with both existing products and new product development initiatives. You will be part of a cross-functional agile team and collaborate with colleagues across ABB's global R&D network.

This role offers a great opportunity to work across the full product development cycle, from concept and design to testing, validation and production support. If your goal is to expand your technical knowledge or further develop your background in electronics development, you will be supported by experienced colleagues and a collaborative team.

In this role, you will:

  • Design, develop and implement analog and digital circuits from concept phase through serial production.
  • Create schematics and define constraints for PCB layouts.
  • Define verification specifications and validate designs through simulation, laboratory testing and prototype evaluations.
  • Document developed solutions and support the transfer of new technologies into production.
  • Collaborate with product owners, product managers, system architects and software developers to translate market needs into hardware requirements.
  • Contribute to product development initiatives by identifying opportunities for technical improvements and innovation.
  • Stay updated on technology trends and developments relevant to ABB's products and solutions.
  • Engage in internal and external networks to expand your knowledge and skills.
  • Take responsibility for hardware development activities and collaborate closely with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
  • Contribute to ABB's innovation efforts, including intellectual property and patent-related activities where applicable.

Qualifications for the role

  • M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree in Electronic Engineering, Embedded Systems or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in electronics development within embedded systems in an industrial environment.
  • Experience designing electronic circuits, creating schematics and working with simulation tools.
  • Experience in testing and validation of electronic prototypes in a laboratory environment.
  • Experience working with voltage levels up to approximately 1 kV is considered an advantage.
  • Knowledge of EMC-compatible design is considered an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel internationally (less than 5%).
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken. Swedish language skills are beneficial but not required.
