Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Hardware Engineer I to join the Data center Power & Control ZPE Systems Team. This position reports to Blumenau - SC Brazil

What Will You Do?

  • Support product certification activities for ZPE Systems hardware products across global markets, including preparation, tracking, and organization of technical documentation.
  • Work with internal engineering teams, test laboratories, certification bodies, and manufacturing partners to support compliance activities related to EMC, safety, RF, telecom, and environmental requirements.
  • Review schematics for networking, serial communication, embedded computing, and peripheral interfaces under the guidance of senior hardware engineers.
  • Assist with NPI activities, including prototype bring-up, validation, issue tracking, manufacturing support, documentation, SOPs and engineering change implementation.
  • Support hardware debugging and validation of Linux-based products, including basic board-level testing, peripheral verification, log collection, and coordination with software/firmware teams.
  • Maintain certification files, test reports, declarations, BOM-related documentation, technical construction files, and compliance records.
  • Help identify potential design, documentation, or compliance gaps early in the development cycle.
  • Support sustaining engineering activities for existing ZPE Systems hardware platforms.

Education, Experience

  • Recent graduate in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Entry-level candidate with prior hands-on exposure through internships, undergraduate research, academic projects, lab work, or participation in product development activities.
  • Strong interest in hardware product development, certification, compliance, embedded systems, and Linux-based networking products.
  • Able to work carefully with documentation, test reports, schematics, BOMs, datasheets, and certification requirements.
  • Comfortable learning from senior engineers while gradually taking ownership of well-defined engineering tasks.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and able to communicate clearly with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and external partners.
  • Advanced English reading and writing skills, especially for technical documentation, datasheets, standards, and certification reports.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Basic to intermediate understanding of electronics, including schematics, components, circuits, power supplies, digital interfaces, and board-level design concepts.
  • Familiarity with schematic review or development tools such as Altium, EasyEDA, KiCad, or similar.
  • Basic knowledge of hardware interfaces commonly used in embedded/networking products, such as UART, I2C, SPI, USB, Ethernet, PCIe, GPIO, and serial communication standards.
  • Basic Linux knowledge, including command-line usage, logs, device enumeration, networking commands, and interaction with embedded hardware.
  • Exposure to embedded systems, networking devices, or computer hardware platforms.
  • Ability to read datasheets, application notes, test reports, and technical standards.
  • Strong documentation skills and ability to maintain organized tracking files, checklists, reports, and certification records.
  • Experience with Excel or similar tools for tracking certifications, BOM information, test status, and issue lists.
  • Basic lab skills using equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, logic analyzers, or network/serial test equipment.
  • Preferred: prior internship, undergraduate research, capstone project, or lab experience involving hardware design, validation, compliance, Linux-based systems, or embedded/networking products.
  • Preferred: Basic understanding of certification and compliance concepts such as EMC, EMI, ESD, RF, safety, FCC, CE, ANATEL, KC, IMDA, MTCTE/NCCS, and related regulatory processes.
