Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics or a related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a Hardware Engineer-related occupation.
• Position requires 2 years of experience in the following:
  

  • System-level knowledge, including hardware, software, and their interactions;

  • Mobile phone hardware subsystems, including application processor, multimedia, GPU, modem and wifi;

  • Optimizing software for power and performance improvements;

  • Linux kernel and Android system; and

  • Debugging and root cause analysis for system issues (code, firmware, software, hardware, operational) or Troubleshooting system issues.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $161,200 - $189,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

• Work with cross-functional hardware and software teams to model power consumption and define power targets
• Analyze and optimize the software running across the key components of the chipset (SoC) like CPU, GPU, Memory Subsystem and Connectivity
• Debug and resolve battery drain issues
• Collaborate with Android app teams across Google to help them optimize power
• Develop tools and tests for validating and monitoring power consumption
