About the Role

The Hardware Engineer/Integrator is a member of a global HW development team to realize telematics and connectivity functions in automotive IVI and telematics systems, which includes assessment of requirements and feasibility, definition of suitable concepts, implementation and verification.

You will be part of Telematics Development/ Engineering Team Bucharest/Romania inside the SBU Connectivity, reporting to the Team Leader Hardware/Mechanics Engineering & Integration or/and to Director Hardware Delivery

What You Will Do

  • Sr. Hardware Engineer in BU Connectivity HW department

  • Assist of resource planning, tracking & prioritizing in the scope of a project

  • Development, test and verification of analog and digital functional blocks (e.g. power supplies, MCU/SoC/HU units, …) within complex hardware architectures under consideration of quality, cost, Harman Guidelines and suitability for series

  • Direct and assist the bring up and debugging of new design prototypes, specifying testing parameters and procedures

  • Functional Safety

  • Develop HW functional blocks and systems maintaining the aspects of functional safety (ISO 26262), where applicable. Review overall HW design under functional safety aspects and guide team members to develop HW meeting the ISO26262.

  • Creation of measurement reports and technical documentation

  • Schematic entry and variant management.

  • Change Management in Teamcenter

  • Signal- and Power-Integrity Simulations to ensure that the design is respecting the given requirements

  • Layout review and layout in depth guidance together with the experts to ensure the correct functionality of the design

  • Assisting in the technical requirements specification of purchased parts, of functional blocks, and the evaluation and selection of suitable supplier considering the road map

  • Realization of system designs, schematics and/or schematics integration of hardware applications in the range of medium to high complexity under consideration of Harman guidelines

  • Global cooperation with other departments as Construction Mechanical, Quality, Manufacturing and Software during the development process

  • Maintenance support

  • Technical support for internal and/or external staff in the industrialization of function items in an international environment

  • Perform technical measurements on customer site ( EMC, Thermal, functional )

What You Need to Be Successful

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering or appropriate graduation or technician)

  • At least 3 years professional experience in the HW development and verification of analog/digital applications and standalone functional units

  • Experience as a hardware engineer in the development of analogue, digital and RF circuits and systems.

  • Experience with tools for schematic/layout realization and simulation (e.g. CAD Tools, SPICE, …) as well as Microsoft applications

  • Knowledge of commonly used interfaces in telematic systems (PCIe, UART, Ethernet, I2C, I2S, SPI, USB …) appreciated

  • ISO 26262 Experience in Automotive products is appreciated

  • Strong verbal and written English skills

  • Creativity and analytical thinking

  • Good communication skills

  • Be able to clearly explain complex technical issues and justify technical decisions

  • Structured and target orientated working style as well as proven ability to collaborate within cross functional engineering teams

Bonus Points if You Have

  • Familiarity with Mentor Graphics ECAD System (Schematic Entry, Layout) and Simulation Tools as HFSS

  • At least 3 years professional experience in the HW development and verification of analog/digital applications and standalone functional units

  • Knowledge of the requirements inside the automotive area, especially for EMC
