Hardware Designer Protégé Trainee (Ref. No. R1012674)

at our location in Kuala-Lumpur

You will enjoy having these responsibilities:

  • Support Engineering dep. with rebranding of drawings and engineering documents  
  • Participate in on site surveys alongside experienced engineers to gather technical and environmental information required for hardware signalling design.
  • Assist in recording site observations, measurements, equipment locations, and installation constraints.
  • Preparing site reports, as and when required.
  • Proficient with the use of development tools, CAD packages (MicroStation, AutoCAD, AutoCAD electrical)
  • Contributes to improvements in hardware quality
  • Demonstrates initiative, and resourcefulness in solving problems
  • Willingness to understand the processes and methodologies associated with managing engineering documents and drawings
  • Demonstrates an advanced level of logical reasoning resulting in effective hardware application designs, products and processes
  • Manage assigned tasks within schedule and budget.
  • Keep track of progress on all tasks assigned to completion
  • Locating and researching source documentation for design activities prior to initiating rebranding updates
  • Identify problems or inefficiencies in the department’s operation and suggest improvements.

You have:

  • Bachelors or master’s in electrical engineering or an equivalent engineering degree
  • 0 – 2 years related work experience in the rail industry specifically in hardware signalling design
  • Knowledge of CAD tools (MicroStation, AutoCAD), Bills of Materials, (SAP), Configuration Management, and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Well-developed verbal skills to interact effectively and professionally in a variety of forums,
  • Well-developed writing skills to effectively update instructions clearly to maintain the accuracy of the original instruction.
  • Good interpersonal and diplomatic skills to deal confidently, courteously, and correctly with people at any level within the organization.
  • Good technical writing skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the job and in relations with others.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • AutoCAD and other similar tool experience
  • Prior knowledge of a configuration management system is an asset.
