Role Purpose
Ensure company computers and hardware are properly configured, securely deployed, accurately tracked, and recovered when employees exit.
Support infrastructure preparation for the Research Center launch.
Core Responsibilities - Asset Management (Primary Priority)
- Coordinate shipment of laptops and peripherals to new hires.
- Verify recipient information before shipping.
- Maintain accurate asset tracking (serial number, user, location, status).
- Initiate and track return process upon employee termination.
- Inspect, wipe, and reimage returned devices.
- Conduct monthly inventory reconciliation.
Hardware Setup & Research Center Support
- Assist with physical setup of servers, networking equipment, and storage devices.
- Install base operating systems and required software.
- Configure security settings and endpoint protection.
- Stage and test research center workstations.
- Maintain cable management and labeling standards.
Inventory & Procurement Support
- Monitor hardware inventory thresholds.
- Assist with receiving and logging new shipments.
- Validate hardware against purchase orders.
Security & Compliance
- Ensure all returned devices are securely wiped.
- Maintain chain-of-custody documentation.
- Enforce company hardware and security standards.
Daily 4-Hour Allocation Example
- Hour 1: Process shipments, initiate returns, update inventory logs.
- Hour 2: Configure and image devices.
- Hour 3: Prepare research center infrastructure and staging.
- Hour 4: Reconcile tracking, process returns, prepare next-day deployments.
Performance Metrics (KPIs)
- 100% asset tracking accuracy.
- Device deployment turnaround time under 48 hours.
- Return recovery rate above 95% within 10 days.
- Zero untracked devices.
- Research center hardware readiness milestones met.
Priority Order
- Protect company assets (tracking & recovery).
- Ensure new hires receive working devices on time.
- Support research center infrastructure buildout.
- Maintain accurate documentation.
- Prevent inventory shortages.
Success Criteria
- No equipment is lost or unaccounted for.
- New hires are never delayed due to hardware.
