Job Overview:
As a professional bartender, you will play a key role in creating memorable guest experiences. You will be responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining a clean and safe bar environment. Your ability to engage with guests, take orders accurately, and craft high-quality drinks.
Hours: This job requires you to work during the evening, weekends, and occasionally on holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to standardized recipes and guest preferences.
- Interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner, taking beverage orders and providing recommendations.
- Check identification to ensure guest meet legal age to purchase alcohol.
- Adhere to all food safety and quality regulations.
- Handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions accurately, ensuring correct charges and providing accurate change.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment.
- Ensure the cleanliness of the entire bar area, including counters, floors, liquor wells, liquor bottles, all equipment, and ice wells.
- Complete any other duties assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Positive attitude and excellent communication skills.
- Neat appearance and engaging, friendly personality.
- Efficient, observant, knowledgeable, and personable.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven experience or knowledge of mixing, garnishing, and serving drinks is a plus.
- Must have the availability to open and/or close regularly.
- Must complete an online training course for the responsible serving of alcohol.
Essential Functions
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages accurately and efficiently.
- Take customer orders and provide excellent guest service in a fast-paced environment.
- Operate point-of-sale systems, handle cash, and process credit card transactions.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including counters, shelves, and storage.
- Stock and replenish bar supplies, garnishes, and ingredients as needed.
- Monitor inventory levels and report shortages or discrepancies to management.
- Follow safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service procedures.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management regarding guest needs or operational issues.
- Work independently or collaboratively to ensure smooth bar operations.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the work shift, with limited opportunities to sit.
- Frequent use of hands and arms to handle glassware, bar tools, kegs, taps, garnishes, and other supplies.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or reach as needed to access storage areas and equipment.
- Ability to move, lift, stock, and transport boxes, kegs, or supplies weighing up to 35 pounds safely.
- Physical stamina to remain in constant motion in a fast-paced environment while maintaining focus and accuracy.
- Ability to work in environments with variable noise levels, lighting, and temperatures, including crowded or confined spaces.
- Clear verbal communication skills to interact with guests and team members effectively.

The Beginning

B&B Theatres stands for Bills and Bagby, two families that both launched movie theatres and joined forces-for business and love-in 1980.

The history of B&B stretches back to 1924 when Elmer Bills, Sr., bought the Lyric Theatre in Salisbury, MO, and founded Bills Theatres. It was there that he met his future wife, Johnnie, while she played the piano along with the silent movies. Years later, their son Elmer Bills, Jr., was born into the business.

In 1936, the elder Elmer hired 10-year-old Sterling Bagby as a concession clerk. Sterling grew up, fought in World War II and came home to marry his Higbee, MO ticket seller, Pauline. Together, they started the Bagby Traveling Picture Show and roamed rural Missouri with their films, projection equipment, seats and snack bar. The Bagby Traveling Picture Show screened movies in barns, schools and parks. Eventually, Sterling and Pauline's company evolved into a Kansas circuit of drive-in theatres and "hardtops" (their nickname for indoor theatres).

Meanwhile, young Elmer Bills, Jr. had met his wife-to-be, Amy, when both were 13 (he lovingly refers to her as "the best popcorn girl I ever hired") and gone on to graduate from the University of Missouri in 1959. Elmer and Amy joined his parents Elmer Sr. and Johnnie and continued the expansion of Bills Theatres, Inc.
