We are currently seeking a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist with experience in either Haematology (Morphology) or Transfusion Science (Grifols platform) to join our client’s busy and well-established laboratory service in Yorkshire This is a full-time, ongoing position offering flexibility in working patterns and a competitive hourly rate.

Key Responsibilities

Depending on your specialism, you will be involved in:

Haematology (Morphology):

• Performing full blood counts, coagulation studies, and detailed blood film morphology
• Ensuring accurate analysis and interpretation of results
• Maintaining quality control and contributing to clinical decision-making

Transfusion (24/7 Shift):

• Conducting blood grouping, antibody screening, and compatibility testing
• Managing urgent transfusion requests in a high-pressure environment
• Operating Grifols platforms (e.g., Erytra, DG Gel) and ensuring compliance with UKAS/MHRA standards

Qualifications and Experience

• HCPC registration
• Degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent
• Proven experience in either Haematology (with morphology) or Transfusion Science
• Familiarity with relevant analysers Siemens in Haematology or Grifols in Transfusion
• Experience with Winpath LIMS
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• NHS experience (preferred)
