Year End Bonus

To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Associates Degree in Business, Communications, Food Science, Food Safety, Microbiology, Public Health Or equivalent experience (if applicable)
  • Two years of experience in the food industry with direct exposure and responsibility of food safety and HACCP based systems
  • Basic knowledge of HACCP
  • Ability to obtain FDA approved Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) status within the first year
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulatory requirements specific to food safety and related areas [Food, Drug, Cosmetic Act (FD&C), Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), FDA Food Code, USDA Meat and Poultry Acts, state food safety regulations, weights and measures, Code of Federal Regulations] and the principles behind these requirements affecting Publix both with industrial operations and our intended retail stores.
  • Knowledge of food microbiology and chemistry
  • Intermediate computer skills using Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays or extended periods of time if needed
  • Ability to travel locally or overnight
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in written format
  • Ability to persuade, convince or achieve buy-in from others
  • Strong interpersonal and decision-making skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Communications, Food Science, Food Safety Microbiology, Public Health, or related course of study
  • Two years’ experience within Manufacturing or Industrial Operations, or equivalent business experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of the HACCP program to oversee development, implementation, review, and upkeep of the HACCP program
  • Knowledge of a retail supermarket, manufacturing, warehousing, distribution processes and programs impacting food safety
  • Knowledge of the Publix retail and corporate contacts and structures
  • Knowledge of the interactions between federal (USDA, FDA, CDC) and state agencies
  • Knowledge of food manufacturing practices
  • Knowledge of Publix’s policies and guidelines for the management of salaried and hourly associates.
  • Knowledge of traceability in foods
  • Knowledge of SharePoint, CQA Customer Complaint Tracking, Laboratory Information Management System, Supplier Management Database
