Diagnose, repair, inspect and maintain motorized and mechanical equipment associated with movable bridges. Perform special duties as assigned.
Diagnosis and Repair: Diagnose equipment failures and repair by manufacturer’s recommendations. Service equipment with repair manuals when available.
Emergency Operations: Prepare equipment for emergency operations. Make equipment repairs to reduce downtime during emergency operations.
Information Processing and Paperwork: Prepare, process, and maintain required maintenance and repair documentation.
Perform Repair Work: Perform repairs and maintain drainage pumps, piping systems, and related hydraulic equipment
Perform duties as assigned. :
Preventive Maintenance: Perform preventive maintenance on drawbridge machinery according to schedule and guidelines. Make repairs as needed when deficiencies are found.
Ability to coach and instruct others in diagnostic and repair techniques and in the operation of equipment.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to independently perform major repairs and maintenance on a variety of electrical or mechanical equipment.
Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
Ability to obtain valid CDL and DOT medical card within 11 months of employment and maintain thereafter. Must comply with DOT and VDOT policies and standards when operating CDL equipment.
Ability to operate various types of light, medium and heavy-duty trucks, equipment and tools in a safe and efficient manner.
Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
Ability to read and comprehend service and equipment repair manuals, gauges, testing devices. blueprints, electrical or mechanical reports, schematics or diagrams.
Ability to read and comprehend service and repair manuals, gauges and testing devices.
Ability to read, write, and perform basic math calculations.
Knowledge of control circuits and troubleshooting controls for pumps, motors, and various other electrical or mechanical systems used in an industrial environment.

Possession of a Commercial Driver' License (CDL).
