Hours of Work: Monday-Friday, evenings and weekends as needed

The General Manager blends business acumen and operational knowledge to drive business results while building a high-performing team. This role uses discretion in assigning duties to employees and in employment decisions such as staffing and performance management of employees and is accountable for the achievement of operations, membership sales, personal training sales member retention and member experience objectives.

The General Manager has a sincere commitment to and a deep understanding of the value of operational excellence and outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities

Sales Management

  • Oversees the day-to-day operations, establishing production priorities, monitoring KPIs, reviewing organizational statistics and taking appropriate actions to achieve goals and targets.
  • Achieves club sales quotas.
  • Analyzes sales reports to identify and address trends and issues in club performance.
  • Oversees club sales objectives to support promotions and programs that maximize revenue.
  • Continuously onboards, trains and develops employees on sales processes and competencies by adhering to organizational policies and standards.

Operations Management

  • Achieves positive net member growth by driving topline membership sales and executing on all established organizational member retention strategies.
  • Oversees the management of all operations such as Facilities, Personal Training and Child Minding within their specific clubs.
  • Proactively handles all member concerns and feedback via NPS, cancellation surveys and direct member inquiries.
  • Instills a positive culture within the club that values customer service excellence and internal collaboration to achieve goals and maintain exceptional employee standards.
  • Develops and maintains strategic and operational plans for optimized productivity in the club and maximize level of service.
  • Reviews and improves organizational effectiveness by developing processes, overseeing employees, establishing a highly motivated work environment, and creating innovative approaches for improvement.
  • Seeks out networking opportunities for expansion and growth by developing new relationships.
  • Oversees the administration of all membership documentation and membership process requirements as well as the member integration in all areas of the club.
  • Reviews all member communication addressing all issues for resolution ensuring alignment with all best practices and club policies and procedures focusing on positive member experience.

People and Resource Management

  • Fosters and encourages a culture that strives to be energetic and fun, while striving for continuous improvement and success.
  • Directs employees to ensure adherence to all policies and procedures.
  • Provides performance, leadership, coaching and mentoring to employees related to best practice, professional conduct, contribution to the GYMVMT and HER GYMVMT vision, relationship management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Oversees and facilitates performance management and ensures all team members understand their key accountabilities and perform to the expected level.
  • Resolves internal employee conflicts efficiently and to the mutual benefit of those involved.
  • Provides leadership in development of team communication and cohesiveness.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, an asset, plus related work experience, or equivalent
  • A background in athletics, sports, sports management and/or business management with gym/fitness club experience an asset
  • Proven experience in managerial role
  • Strong decision-making capabilities
  • Above average communication, and delegation skills
  • Able to develop and maintain collaborative relationships
  • Demonstrate leadership and people management skills
  • Highly motivated team-player
  • Able to deliver high level of interactive customer service
  • Able to proactively solve problems.
  • Proven success in achieving monthly KPI’s and quotas
