Position Type: Part Time Non IMRF
Salary Range: $20.00 - $25.00 Hourly

The Gymnastic Team Coach is a Part-Time IMRF Position. We offer competitive compensation, IMRF, PTO and an employee discount for part-time IMRF employees.
Job Purpose:
To plan, teach and instruct girls and boys preschool and recreational gymnastics classes in a safe manner with a recreational focus.
Essential Functions:
- Coach Pre Team and Level 3 practices
- Assist with Level 4 and Level 5 practices
- Instruct athletes in proper techniques, routines and event-specific skills.
- Develop and implement structured lesson plans aimed at progressing athletes through compulsory skill requirements.
- Provide Regular Feedback to athletes and communicate progress or concerns to parents.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team environment.
- Attend staff meeting.
- Stay updated on organization certifications and assist with equipment maintenance.
- Prepare athletes for competitions and attend the gymnastics meets.
- Knowledge of specific USAG rules for Level 3-5
- Teaches recreational gymnastics classes to preschoolers aged 3 ½ to 5 and recreational students age 6 and up. Teaches Team
- Evaluates participant skill progress
- Maintains equipment and gymnastics facility
- Prepares and delivers class lesson plans with gymnastics program standards
- Spots participants on gymnastics equipment and tumbling skills
- Provides class leadership
Additional Functions:
- Performs office/clerical tasks as necessary
- Prepares incident and accident reports
- Prepares and coaches teams for competition upon request
- Teach parent and tot gymnastics classes for age 2-3 years
- Teach tumbling, trampoline, adult gymnastics, cheer and other gymnastics related programs upon request
- Lead gymnastics birthday parties
- Assists with the monitoring of first aid supplies and equipment for gymnastics center
- Maintains knowledge of and follows all Federal, State, Local and Park District safety regulations
- Maintains a complete understanding of Park District emergency action plan
- Communicates any program deviations to immediate supervisor and customer service staff
- Available nights and weekends as needed
- Attends staff meetings as needed or requested
- Performs other projects as assigned
Knowledge, Skill and Work Experience Required:
- 1+ years of gymnastics coaching experience and team experience
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Certification in advanced Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) within 3 months of employment
- Ability to work with and instruct children
- Ability to multi-task workload
- Customer service focus

- Planning and problem solving skills
- Ability to respond to problems or stressful situations at all times and with good judgment and accuracy
- Ability to follow directions and work with limited supervision

- Establishes and maintains the highest standards of ethical conduct
Recommended:
- Knowledge and experience in Microsoft office applications

Work Environment, Physical Demands and Considerations:
- Frequently standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, running, and walking
- Occasionally Sitting
- Strength Work requires the ability to move and lift medium to heavy weight (up to 100 lbs.)
- Other requirements may include talking, hearing, and seeing to perform the following necessary duties: Teaching programs and supervising students, operating office equipment including but not limited to computers, printers, copiers, fax machines and telephones
- Exposure to cleaning and disinfecting supplies
- Normal gym conditions for majority of work. May include occasional light and temperature variations.
- Exposure to noise, dust, gymnastics chalk and elevation
- May be exposed to occasional inclement weather, as position requires temporary outdoor work
- Ability to present ideas and recommendations in a concise verbal and written manner
- Ability to understand and carry out verbal and/or written instructions efficiently and effectively
- Ability to use independent judgment, initiative and respond to unexpected or unplanned events or demands
