🌟 About the Role

Looking for an entry-level coaching role to ignite your passion for sports and youth development? We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated Gymnastics Beginner Coaches to join our vibrant team! Operating across our Newtown Stadium and satellite gymnastics programs at the Geelong Arena in North Geelong, you will play a hands-on role in teaching foundational physical skills, basic movement patterns, and coordination to young children. If you love working with children, have an active lifestyle, are teachable and eager to undertake induction training, and thrive within a collaborative, 'team-first' environment, this coaching pathway is a fantastic opportunity to step into the sports industry!

A Fundamental Gymnastics Coaching Course will require completion.

✅ What You'll Do

🤸 Teach Foundational Skills: Lead and assist with fun, active gymnastics sessions focused on delivering basic fundamental movement patterns to children and young people.

🎯 Support Basic Spotting: Learn and execute correct physical spotting techniques to guide young athletes safely through foundational gymnastics progressions.

🏃‍♂️ Model Skill Progressions: Actively demonstrate basic gymnastics movements and physical habits to encourage and guide young participants confidently.

⚙️ Equipment Setup & Pack-Up: Execute minor equipment workflows, performing the physical set-up, adjustment, and pack-up of gymnastics mats, crashmats, boxes, bars, and shapes safely.

🤝 Model Collective Y Values: Work productively across a close-knit recreational network with a team-first attitude, modeling honesty, responsibility, caring, respect, and safety daily.

🎯 What You'll Bring

  • A prior background, interest, or strong dedication to working with children and young people in a sport and recreation setting.
  • An active, energetic, and highly positive personality that thrives when guiding kids.
  • A teachable, proactive attitude with a genuine willingness to undertake on-the-job training and online safety inductions.
  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills to greet families and collaborate with senior coaching staff.
  • Physical capability to meet the manual handling demands of the position, including long durations of standing, demonstrating movements, and active equipment set-ups.

📋 Requirements & Qualifications

🔹 Working with Children Check - Employee Card (maintained every 5 years)

🔹 National Police Record Check (maintained every 3 years)

🔹 Access to a reliable personal vehicle and transport to facilitate travel between site locations (Newtown & North Geelong Arena)

🔹 Satisfactory completion of the 'Child Safety @ the Y' online course during onboarding, along with annual refreshers

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.
