
The Department of Parks & Recreation (DPR) is seeking multiple temporary Gymnastics Assistants to assist Instructors and work with children of all ages, adults, and instructors in our Gymnastics Program These roles serve across our program assisting the Recreation Class programs. Candidates in these roles assist in serving Arlington County’s community by offering safe, fun, and quality gymnastics classes for all. Join our well-known and amazing team!
Our successful, well-established program offers gymnastics to both boys and girls, from parent-tot classes, through preschool and higher-level classes based on the USA Gymnastics (USAG) programs. Specialty programs include camps, birthday parties, special events, teen classes, adapted classes, and adult classes. Arlington Gymnastics also offers USA Gymnastics Xcel competitive teams and USAG Development Program competitive teams for boys and girls.
Specific Tasks Include:
The ideal candidate will have the ability to assist with intermediate to upper-level youth and adult classes. Concepts taught throughout the course are moderately complex and require considerable technical experience.
Minimum Some experience with gymnastics or administering recreational programs.
*Gymnastics experience may come from a variety of sources, such as work, volunteering or formal athletic participation.
Substitutions: Additional education may be substituted for experience. Additional experience may be substituted for education.
Desirables Preference may be given to candidates the following:
Involvement in a competitive or recreational gymnastics program as an athlete;
Coaching or teaching gymnastics;
USA Gymnastics Competitive Coach, USA Gymnastics Recreational Coach, First Aid, CPR certifications and/or other gymnastics certifications; and/or
Working with children of all ages.
Special Requirements

Selected candidates must possess or obtain Adult and Child First Aid/CPR/AED Certification, or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire.

Additional Information
Work Hours: Multiple shifts, Will work between 15 - 30 hours a week. Most hours are weekday evenings and weekends (Saturday and Sunday). Weekday evenings (4:00pm-8:30pm) and Weekends (Saturday: 8:30am-6:00pm and Sunday: 12:00pm-7:00pm).
Please note: This Gymnastics position is classified under the Recreation Class program; however, it functions as a hybrid role. Incumbents may be required, with little or no advance notice, to perform Competitive Gymnastics duties in addition to Recreation Class responsibilities for an indefinite period of time
