The Georgia World Congress Center Authority (GWCCA) Public Safety function is responsible for delivering safe and efficient support to world-class events and guest experiences. Through strong communication with neighboring agencies, operational oversight, vendor partnerships, and team leadership, Public Safety ensures the Authority’s facilities operate at the highest standards of quality, safety practices, emergency management, and incident response.

GWCCA TRAFFIC MANAGER POSITION SUMMARY

The Authority is currently hiring a Traffic Manager to join our Public Safety team. Under the direction of the Director of Public Safety/Chief of Police the Traffic Manager is responsible for the logistics and successful management of the Georgia World Congress Center Authority Campus including: coordination of traffic plans, parking, equipment and overall campus traffic needs. This position will oversee both campus parking agreement and will work closely on campus traffic issues with Mercedes Benz Stadium. The Traffic Manager will also represent the Authority with outside agencies, neighborhood planning units (NPU) and other duties and responsibilities required by the Director of Public Safety/Chief of Police. The Traffic Manager will act as the coordinator with local law enforcement and Georgia Department of Transportation in developing and maintaining traffic plans, scheduling traffic officers, emergency action plans, and any other law public safety related needs.

GWCCA TRAFFIC MANAGER WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Fast-paced, professional work environment in a dynamic convention, sports, entertainment, and hospitality venue.
• Supports event-based business which may require irregular work hours, flexible scheduling, and availability to support evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events based on operational needs.

GWCCA TRAFFIC MANAGER PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Daily shifts will endure various degrees of walking, standing, turning, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, pushing and pulling, requiring a full range of body movements. GWCCA TRAFFIC MANAGER ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop traffic management plans for all events held on the GWCCA Campus to include the, Mercedes Benz Stadium, Centennial Olympic Park and the Georgia World Congress Center.
• Coordinate all on duty and off duty law enforcement officers hired to conduct law enforcement duties, such as scheduling, budgeting, training, supervising, and monitoring officers while under the direction of the GWCCA, or any other organization or agency hosting events at the GWCCA campus.
• Working closely with GWCCA Human Resource Department to ensure that a sufficient number of off duty law enforcement officers are employed by GWCCA to adequately staff events.
• Responsible for coordination of all logistics that affect the common spaces of the campus arising from stakeholder events including the GWCCA venues, Mercedes Benz Stadium and surrounding facilities.
• Work closely with Emergency Managers to formulate emergency actions plans and coordinate training and exercise drills to ensure GWCCA campus staff are in a adequate state of readiness.
• Participate in the Site Coordination Committee meetings to coordinate event planning, communication, staffing, traffic control, parking, and allocation of other resources between operations and events at the Stadium (Mercedes Benz Stadium) and at the GWCC campus.
• Represent the GWCCA with outside agencies to include Neighborhood Planning Units (NPU), Central Atlanta Progress, Atlanta Downtown Neighborhood Alliance and other groups assigned by the Director of Public Safety/ Chief of Police.
• Establish and foster relationships with the City of Atlanta Public Works, Georgia Department of Transportation, MARTA and all other external entities that touch our campus’ traffic management plan. Relationships will also need to be established with neighboring partners (i.e. Philips Arena, CNN, Omni, College Football Hall of Fame, etc.).
• Development and implementation of effective customer service programs in each functional area to include communication directly with primary customers and implementation of effective customer survey/critique programs.
• Provide direction, management and coordination of all functional areas within scope and promote excellent working relationship with all campus functions with the primary purpose being to serve our customers and guests at the highest level possible.
• Develop and manage budget for the functional areas of responsibility.
• Represent and promote the GWCCA at industry associations and organizations and maintain liaison with competitive campuses.
• Contribute to the development of long-term strategic plans for the Authority. Implement campus plans to support the Authority’s strategic plan and measure success.
• Recommend appropriate modifications and additions to personnel policies, programs and procedures to advance professional development and proficiency of the workforce.
• Coordinate implementation of effective employee recruiting, selection, retention and training programs for the facility per established guidelines. Encourage professional development and promotional qualifications of subordinate staff for future Authority positions.
• The Traffic Manager will be required to work non-traditional hours, to include, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Such other duties, functions, special projects and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Public Safety/ Chief of Police.

GWCCA TRAFFIC MANAGER EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• College degree with emphasis on civil engineering related to traffic management.
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in designing traffic plans.
• Experience may serve as a substitute for education on the basis of two (2) years’ experience at management level for one (1) year education.
• NIMS 300 & 400 preferred
• Knowledge and experience with WebEOC
• Law Enforcement experience preferred
