POLICE OFFICER POSITION SUMMARY
The Authority is currently recruiting a Police Officer to join Georgia World Congress Center. The Police Officer is responsible for performing patrol coverage to enforce state laws, local laws, and park ordinances on the campus of Georgia World Congress Center, Centennial Olympic Park, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and Signia by Hilton Atlanta. Ideal candidates will share our values of authenticity, accountability, and teamwork while performing the essential duties and responsibilities of this position. Candidates under final consideration will be required to undergo a background check, psychological evaluation, and polygraph examination prior to employment.
POLICE OFFICER PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is moderately exposed to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, toxic chemicals, electrical currents, pathogens, violent behavior, weapons, explosives, traffic, animals, and/or loud noises. The ability to lift 50 pounds or more may be required of this position. Daily shifts will endure various degrees of walking, standing, turning, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, pushing and pulling, requiring a full range of body movements. This position may require work inside or outside of the building, as needed by events.
In addition to the obvious dangers of confrontations with criminals, police officers need to be constantly alert and ready to deal appropriately with a number threatening situations. Officers frequently work weekends, holidays, and nights. Officers are expected to work at any time their services are needed and may work long hours standing post, making arrests, conducting investigations or during special events.  Officers are expected to report for duty in full uniform with the appropriate and necessary equipment needed in the performance of their duty. All positions are required to work in inclement weather conditions if necessary. Tasks include but are limited to working around moving parts, vehicles, equipment, carts, and materials handling, where extremely heightened awareness to surroundings and environment is essential in the preservation of life and property. Standard body gear and equipment applies in the preservation of life and property, as does special equipment based on assignment including, but not limited to, various types of body armor and safety gear. Police officers are armed and are expected to exercise their legal authority appropriately whenever necessary.
POLICE OFFICER ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Under the direction of the Police Sergeant, the Police Officer responds to emergency situations and conducts investigations of criminal activities while taking appropriate action.
- Answers calls and complaints.
- Completes written incident reports.
- Provides general police services to the public.
- Patrols, observes, and prevents criminal activity. Patrolling may include foot, bike, and/vehicle patrolling.
- Participates is special event activities on campus.
- Exercises crowd control and procedures.
- Provides traffic direction and pedestrian management.
- Completion of shift requirements as assigned by the Police Sergeant or higher police authority.
- Actively participates in and successfully completes The Authority  and police training programs as required.
- Maintains Ga POST Police (PBLE) Certification in Good Standing
- Accurately documents and completes administrative paperwork as required
- Comply with The Authority policies and procedures associated with such programs as risk management, safety, and emergency management
- Maintain an ethical and professional image when interacting with internal and external customers in to ensure customer satisfaction
- Perform other duties as assigned
POLICE OFFICER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull extremely heavy objects over 200 pounds such as in the event of chasing or subduing a suspect resisting arrest.
- Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively and to determine proper course of action on own initiative.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with employees, other staff, and the public.
- Extensive knowledge of standard police practices and techniques.
- High degree of integrity and compliance.

- Ability to demonstrate leadership to the assigned unit in the areas of motivation, positive influence, and personal challenge.

- Knowledge of oral and written skills.

- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure with limited resources.
- Detail oriented.
- Assess, analyze, and manage risk factors in the face of uncertainty.
- Ability to work an irregular work schedule as required to perform duties and responsibilities.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
- Must successfully complete a psychological evaluation.
- Must successfully complete a polygraph examination.
POLICE OFFICER EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- GEORGIA P.O.S.T. Certification in good standing.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Valid Georgia Driver’s License.
