Position Summary
The Georgia World Congress Center Authority is currently recruiting a Carpenter to join Georgia World Congress Center. The Carpenter is responsible for performing general building maintenance on walls, doorframes, floors and other structures using woodworking machinery, hand tools, and power tools. The Carpenter plays a vital role in the organization by building and repairing the facility safely, efficiently and within regulatory guidelines. Carpenter Work Environment
- Fast-paced, operational environment within the Georgia World Congress Center campus
- Irregular work schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on event and business needs
- Combination of office-based work and extensive on-site operational oversight
Carpenter Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is moderately exposed to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. The ability to lift 50 pounds or more may be required of this position. Daily shifts will endure various degrees of walking, standing, turning, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, pushing and pulling, requiring a full range of body movements. This position may require work inside or outside of the building, as needed by events.
Carpenter Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Facility Manager, perform skilled carpentry work to maintain the GWCC campus and facilities in a safe, functional, and high-quality condition.
- Execute general carpentry repairs, maintenance, and construction tasks in support of daily operations and event readiness.
- Safely operate hand and power tools, equipment, and machinery in accordance with safety standards and training.
- Monitor, secure, and properly maintain carpentry tools, equipment, and materials.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and report facility or equipment issues requiring repair or replacement to appropriate personnel.
- Initiate, update, and complete work orders using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Accurately document labor hours, materials used, and job completion details in the work order system.
- Deliver safe, timely, and satisfactory services to internal departments, partners, and external customers.
- Maintain accountability for assigned work orders and areas of responsibility; recommend efficient and effective solutions.
- Promote productivity and efficiency in accordance with departmental standards and operational goals.
- Establish and maintain positive, professional working relationships with internal teams and stakeholders.
- Participate in departmental meetings, safety briefings, and training sessions as required.
- Successfully complete all required compliance, safety, and professional development training.
- Comply with Authority policies and procedures related to risk management, safety, emergency response, and operational standards.
- Maintain an ethical, professional, and customer-focused demeanor when interacting with employees, partners, and guests.
- Accurately complete required administrative documentation and reports.
- Perform other duties, special projects, and responsibilities as assigned to support the objectives of the Georgia World Congress Center Authority.
Carpenter Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to work a flexible and irregular schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as operational needs require.

Carpenter Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a commercial carpenter required.
- Supervisory experience as a carpenter foreman in commercial construction or a related field preferred.
- Experience working in a large commercial facility with demonstrated operational and project planning knowledge preferred.
