Job Description

As a Guidewire developer, you’ll be part of a development team supporting a strategic transformation initiative in property and casualty insurance. You’ll contribute to the evolution of the Guidewire platform by developing, configuring and integrating solutions that meet the organization’s business needs. You’ll work closely with business analysts, developers, architects, quality assurance specialists and business partners to design and deliver reliable, high-performing and scalable solutions. You’ll play an active role in developing new features, optimizing existing solutions and ensuring the continued quality of our applications. You’ll contribute to the evolution of Guidewire development practices by applying industry best practices in software development, integration and automation. More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Participate in the technical analysis of business needs and functional requirements to support solution design
  • Develop, configure and maintain Guidewire solutions using Gosu, Java and the platform’s tools
  • Develop integrations with internal and external systems in accordance with established technical standards
  • Participate in the configuration of products, business rules and operational processes within Guidewire
  • Perform unit testing and collaborate on integration testing to help deliver high-quality solutions
  • Participate in code reviews and apply established development, security and quality standards
  • Contribute to deployment, production release and solution stabilization activities
  • Analyze and resolve incidents, defects and application issues encountered during development or in production
  • Collaborate with business analysts, architects, quality assurance leads and other team members to ensure a shared understanding of business requirements and proposed solutions
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to the continuous improvement of development, automation and knowledge-sharing practices.

What you bring to the table

  • Certificate in computer science, software engineering or a related field
  • A minimum of six years of relevant experience in software development, including at least three years with the Guidewire platform
  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
  • Guidewire Associate certification
  • Knowledge of French is required
  • Advanced proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients
  • Expertise with Guidewire Cloud
  • Proficiency in Guidewire, Gosu and Java
  • Expertise in the development, configuration and integration of Guidewire solutions
  • Knowledge of application integration concepts and technologies, including REST/SOAP, XML and JSON
  • Knowledge of Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD practices, as well as source code management tools
  • Knowledge of property and casualty insurance
  • Familiarity with Guidewire Advanced Product Designer (APD)
  • Knowledge of BillingCenter and/or ClaimCenter
  • Knowledge of Commercial Lines insurance business processes, including underwriting, policy management and insurance products
