Job Description

The Opportunity:IGN is looking for a Guides Editor to expand and elevate our game help and strategy coverage by creating and maintaining highly useful, discoverable content around evergreen games players care about.

This is a project manager and contributor role for someone who combines deep gaming knowledge with excellent editorial judgment, sharp SEO/GEO instincts, and a strong understanding of reader intent. You will identify content opportunities in IGN’s archive, apply current style to classic guides, and improve guides to ensure IGNE remains a trusted destination for players looking for fast answers and expert guidance.

This is a full-time role based in the United Kingdom. This role generally follows a standard working schedule, but due to the nature of the role, you may be required to work outside of normal hours from time to time for big game releases. No travel is required for this role. This role involves computer based work, which requires regular use of hands and vision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain quality game help content across major games, including those from IGN’s massive archive.
  • Find ways to connect IGN content with search audiences consisting of new and veteran players.
  • Monitor community feedback and project manage the backlog of corrections, updates, and additions.
  • Create evergreen, highly competitive, data-driven strategy guides that deliver site traffic over years, not just days.
  • Edit and refine guide content from staff and freelancers and contributors to improve clarity, usefulness, and discoverability.
  • Partner closely with editors and SEO and GEO specialists to shape content angles, headlines, and publishing strategy.
  • Use trend tools, search data, and performance insights to guide short-term decisions and long-term content planning.
  • Help maintain editorial standards and best practices across game help content.

Job Qualifications:

  • Significant experience creating published video game guides, walkthroughs, or service-driven editorial content.
  • Strong understanding of SEO/GEO best practices and search intent within gaming content.
  • Proven ability to write and edit quickly without sacrificing quality or accuracy.
  • Experience editing contributor work and improving copy for both audience value and performance.
  • Familiarity with tools used to track trends, search demand, and content performance.
  • Deep knowledge of current gaming trends, player communities, and live-service content cycles.
  • Ability to independently prioritize high-value opportunities in a fast-paced editorial environment.
  • Proficiency in content planning for large team projects.
  • Comfortable collaborating across editorial, audience development, and content strategy teams.
