About the Role:
The Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Subsystems and CoreSim Team is made up of enthusiastic and talented individuals that design and produce the hardware, algorithms, and software required to solve the challenging problems of controlling spacecraft systems in a harsh, zero-g environment. This position will report directly to the GNC Manager within the GNC Talent Center organization of Lockheed Martin Space. As an experienced GNC analyst in this role, you will be tasked with supporting and lead a program within the multiple satellite buses in LMs Portfolio including, but not limited to, the LM400 and LM2100 satellite series.
What you will be doing:
• Design, analyze, and optimize GNC subsystem dynamics and control systems using MATLAB/Simulink.
• Develop and verify high-fidelity simulation models in MATLAB/Simulink and C++ environments.
• Support system integration, test, and verification activities to ensure subsystem performance meets program requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the program life cycle, from requirements through verification and validation.
• Contribute to mission operations and post-launch performance assessments, as needed.
• Lead small team of engineers to execute on program in meeting program milestones and supporting system level design reviews
• Own the GNC subsystem output including plan for PDR,CDR, SIQT, Delivery and Launch of various vehicles through design life cycle.
Successful applicants generally have at least 5+ years of related experience and may have a post-secondary degree or training in a related discipline
The information below reflects the standard job description for this position:
Designs, develops, implements, verifies and tests algorithms to perform guidance, navigation and control of aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicles and upper stages during powered and coast phases of flight, earth orbit, interplanetary cruise and orbital insertion, as well as during staging events. Navigation functions include the statistical processing of measured data points and their substitution into algorithms simulating physical reality. Guidance functions include the formulation of specific equations and control laws to achieve a desired position in space. Control design and analyses processes consist of the development of the control requirements for aircraft, launch vehicles and/or spacecraft.
Skill Requirements:
• Possess Subject Matter Expertise in spacecraft controller design and optimization.
• Experience in developing and verifying performance of simulation models in simulation environments using programming tools that include MATLAB/Simulink, C++
Security Clearance / Work Authorization:
• To meet requirements of the program/customer, this position requires the selected employee to be a U.S. Citizen.
• Although not required to start, the selected applicant must be eligible to obtain, and maintain, Top Secret with adjudicated SCI Eligibility (i.e. TS/SCI) for long term employment on this program
• Experience with CORESIM
• Experience with flight software development and autocode to C++ and Python
• Attitude Determination and Kalman Filter Experience
• Multi-body dynamics experience
• Familiarity with a GN&C hardware suite for space applications
• Experience going through a spacecraft program life cycle encompassing requirements generation, design, analysis, integration, verification, and testing of the GN&C subsystem for space applications including mission operations
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, collaborative team environment
• Demonstrated good communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical issues to peers, management, subcontractors and customers.
• Possess an active clearance
• Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $135700.00 - $251900.00
