Job Description

ASH Hotels designs, develops, owns and operates a very special collection of properties. In our world, a hotel is much more than a destination to meet, dine, or sleep. Rather, it is a dynamic site of imagery and emotions, interactions and sensations manifesting within the walls of a beautifully restored local legend - a living movie set. An ASH hotel is a connection to the past and a beacon for the future, layered in nuanced storytelling that invites exploration time and again.

Located in the heart of historic downtown Providence, Neptune is a 52‐room hotel housed in an early 20th century brick building that has been thoughtfully restored by owner and designer ASH NYC. Once a brothel, the 5-story 1911 building sits in the center of a vibrant culinary and cultural ruckus, and is located just a few blocks from Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design. Whether in one of our communal spaces or lounging in-room, The Neptune captures the ever-alluring legacy of East coast college towns. Culling from the most innovative underbelly of historic and contemporary Providence, Neptune makes semi-secret exclusivity accessible to everyone.

About The Role

The front desk is where a guest's experience begins and ends. As a Guest Service Agent, your job is to make sure that experience feels easy, personal, and genuinely welcoming; from the moment someone walks in, to the moment they check out. This is a hands-on, people-facing role. You'll manage the day-to-day flow of arrivals and departures, handle reservations, answer questions about the city, and take care of guest needs as they come up.

More than the logistics, though, you're the person a guest turns to when they need something, and how you show up in those moments is what makes the difference. You're a natural with people; approachable, attentive, and steady under pressure. You pay attention to the details that others might miss, and you take satisfaction in making someone's stay a little easier or a little better. You don't need to be told to go the extra mile. You're organized, dependable, and you communicate well. Prior experience in hospitality is a plus, but a genuine interest in taking care of people matters just as much.

What You'll Do

  • Greet and check in guests warmly and efficiently
  • Manage reservations, room assignments, and billing
  • Answer questions about the property and offer genuine local recommendations
  • Coordinate with other departments to follow through on guest requests
  • Address concerns promptly and with care
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front desk and lobby areas
  • Uphold all hotel policies and procedures, ensuring the security and privacy of our guests
  • Embody the spirit of Shenandoah Mansions through thoughtful service and consistent reliability
  • Keep the front desk running smoothly across every shift
  • Other duties as assigned

The Details

  • Part-time, flexible availability required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Previous front desk or customer-facing experience preferred
  • Familiarity with property management systems a plus
  • Competitive pay, hotel benefits, and a team that actually likes coming to work

Qualifications

  • Previous hotel or hospitality experience preferred
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient with hotel PMS systems (preferably Opera or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

  • Hourly Rate: $17.50
  • Part-time employees are eligible to accrue paid sick time per Rhode Island state law.

  • 401 (k) with a 100% match up to 4% of your annual salary. Eligible after 90 days of employment.
  • Full-time employees are eligible for: 10 vacation days, 5 paid sick days (unless otherwise required by law), 4 paid personal days, and 11 paid holidays if you work on the holiday, annually.
  • 50% food & beverage discount and discounted hotel rooms at Ash properties

About Ash

Ash is a hotelier that bridges the worlds of interior design and property development under one roof.

To us, hotelier is simply a mindset: a way of working that envisions hospitality as an art form with infinite possibilities. With development, design, operations and branding teams, we are full-serving auteurs of holistic cinematic experiences — worlds to inhabit and escape to, equal parts imaginative and sublime.

We are a team of individuals with decades of experience in hospitality, architecture, interior design, urban planning, fine arts and finance. The union of these perspectives forms the foundation of our interdisciplinary practice.

Inspired by the confluence of history and innovation — we look to the past for wisdom from previous civilizations, and forward to the future with its myriad potential. Isn’t it thrilling to think about what has yet to be imagined?
