The Statewide Guardian ad Litem Office is Florida’s award-winning, state-funded child advocacy organization. With more than 10,000 staff and volunteers, that includes more than 180 attorneys. Its primary focus is the powerful and effective representation of Florida’s abused, neglected, and abandoned children. Most of these children are abruptly removed from their homes, and sadly, many end up in foster care. The Office’s mission is to provide the most vulnerable children in Florida with an adult from their community who will be a consistent, positive presence in the child’s life as a part of a multi-disciplinary team that may include trained volunteers, pro bono attorneys, staff attorneys, and child welfare professionals providing the highest quality community advocacy and legal representation to protect each child’s rights and best interests. A critical function is to provide dependency judges with thorough and accurate information regarding the children under the court’s jurisdiction. ABOUT THE WORK

This is independent professional work planning, designing, monitoring, supporting, and integrating enterprise network systems for the Statewide Guardian Ad Litem Office. Duties and responsibilities include designing and coordinating various components of GAL enterprise network systems, consulting with users and program management to determine user needs, defining network solutions to meet user requirements, and designing and configuring enterprise environments with appropriate hardware, operating systems software, applications software, and communications component to support business requirements. Conducts research and development in network systems and related technologies. Develops hardware configuration plans for network systems. Evaluates and recommends network software and hardware for the enterprise system. Provides guidance and mentorship to the Enterprise Network Systems Analyst. Performs related work as required.

ABOUT THE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of an enterprise computing environment, including wiring/cabling, routers, switches and hubs. Knowledge of network troubleshooting techniques. Knowledge of distributed processing operations, procedures, and equipment. Knowledge of problem-solving techniques. Knowledge of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (Azure). Knowledge of computers and software. Knowledge of group policies. Knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration. Ability to process information logically and solve problems. Ability to monitor and resolve problems with distributed computer systems components. Ability to identify and define user enterprise network needs. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

ABOUT THE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in information technology, one of which must be in developing, designing or managing network systems; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course of study in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems and one year experience in developing, designing or managing network systems; or a master's degree from an accredited college or university with major course of study in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems and one year of experience in planning, designing or managing network systems. The Executive Director or designee may waive training and experience requirements.
