Requirements and Description

The GSE Technician I is an entry level maintenance position responsible for performing basic preventive maintenance, inspections, and minor repairs on Ground Support Equipment (GSE). Working under the guidance of senior technicians and supervisors, the Technician I supports the safe and reliable operation of equipment used in daily airport ramp activities.

This role is designed as the first step in the GSE Maintenance career ladder and provides structured training, hands on experience, and development toward Technician II, Technician III, and Lead Technician roles.

Job Duties:  

  • Perform basic preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on tugs, belt loaders, GPUs, ASUs, and other GSE under supervision.

  • Conduct routine inspections including fluid checks, tire condition, battery health, and safety critical components.

  • Document all work performed using the company’s CMMS (AssetWorks) following CCC standards.

  • Identifyand report equipment defects, safety hazards, and operational concerns to senior technicians or supervisors.

  • Assistwith minor repairs such as battery service, light replacements, hose inspections, and simple adjustments.

  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in compliance withUnifi,EPA, andOSHAregulatory standards.

  • Supportinpartslookups, inventory usage, and basic tool control procedures.

  • Participate inon-the-jobtraining, classroom instruction, and skill development activities.

  • Follow all safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PPE requirements, and shop protocols.

Qualifications:  

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • Mechanical aptitude and interest in equipment maintenance.

  • Zero (0) to Two (2) years ofexperience in automotive, diesel, small engine, or mechanical repair preferred but notrequired

  • Provides all needed hand tools. Companyprovidesspeciality tooling.

  • Ability to learn and follow technical instructions, PM checklists, and safety procedures.

  • Basic understanding of hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.

  • Ability to read and interpret simple diagrams, labels, and maintenance forms.

  • Strong communicationskills and willingness to learn from senior technicians.

  • Must be 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.

  • Must be able to pass required background checks and drug screening.

  • Valid driver’s licenserequired

  • Ability to work in afast-pacedenvironment and adapt to changingpriorities

Working conditions:  

  • Must be able to work various hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Work performed in both indoor shop environments and outdoor ramp areas.

  • Exposure to weather conditions including rain, snow, heat, and cold.

  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts,aircraft, vehicles, fumes, and loud noise.

  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.

  • Work pace varies and is oftenfast-pacedwith tight timeconstraints.
