JOB SUMMARY
Delivers on University Credit Union’s core purpose of giving the University Community a financial advantage by building and nurturing relationships and programs within designated authority. Aggregates and analyzes data sets to provide useful insights, developing dashboards, reports, and tools for business-professionals, finding out technical solutions for improvement of data access and usage, and understanding data needs and advising the company on technical resources.  This is a part time internship of 20 hours a week for up to 6 weeks.
LOCATION
We are passionate about attracting great talent to our team, so this position will be a hybrid arrangement with travel expectations to designated university partners and CU locations.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assists with aggregating and analyzing data to create dashboards, reports, and summaries for business users to meet evolving business needs, working with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and ensure clear, accurate presentation of data.
2. Assists in improving data reliability, efficiency, and quality by performing data validation, cleanup, and basic quality checks.
3. Supports the preparation of data for analysis and modeling by organizing, formatting, and documenting datasets.
4. Helps identify trends and patterns in data through exploratory analysis under the guidance of senior analysts. Assists with preliminary data gathering and analysis for evaluating new business opportunities.
5. Will have a primary focus on data related to UCU’s growth and partnership strategies.
6. Performs other duties as assigned and actively participates in learning opportunities to build data and financial analysis skills.

QualificationsKNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in finance, economics, accounting, data analytics, mathematics, or a related field.  Relevant coursework or certifications in data analysis, data insights, reporting, or financial concepts preferred.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Coursework, academic projects, or internship exposure to data analysis, data insights, data mining, or working with large datasets; familiarity with how data is used to show insights and support business analysis is a plus.
Demonstrated interest in data analytics & insights, dashboards, financial reporting, and business intelligence tools.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Experience in independently and efficiently preparing dashboards and reports with a high degree of accuracy, under general supervision.
Excel experience including creation and use of pivot and utilization of relevant charts/graphics.
SKILLS/ABILITIES: Well organized.
Attentive to detail.
Ability to use data and insights for storytelling purposes.
Strong project management abilities.
Able to use related computer applications.
An independent thinker and self-starter.
“Can do” approach to resolving issues and overcoming objections.

Physical Requirements
If based remotely, may be required to travel up to 20% of the time to the UCU HQ in Los Angeles, so must be able to travel and move within buildings to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency.  Must be able to operate routine office equipment including a computer, telephone, copier, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on a computer for extended periods daily. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular reliable, and timely attendance that aligns with the pacific time zone.
Working Conditions
If working onsite, must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.  If working remotely from a home office, must be able to work in a separate, quiet area, for extended periods on a computer.
Mental and/or Emotional Requirements
Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising the highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
