JOB SUMMARY:
Maximize hotel revenue and occupancy and fully develop the Group Market Segment
The responsibilities of the Group Sales Manager include, but not limited to:
Direct selling/coordination of meetings and meal functions for the Corporate Oil and Gas Market Segment. Ensure customer satisfaction to both internal and external customers as key liaison. Occasional evening and weekend hours when required by the groups assigned. This job description is not an exclusive or exhaustive list of all job functions that an associate in this position may be asked to perform from time to time.
Physical Requirements:
Standing/Walking: Constantly. Conduct tours of hotel meeting space, rooms, obtaining information, relaying information, walk approximately 3 miles daily.
Crouching: Occasionally. Lifting luggage, boxes, sales material, returning files to lower file drawers
Twisting: Frequently. Driving, personal/phone conversations
Handling: Frequently. Phone, papers, files, pen, pencils, keyboards, passing out data
Grasping: Occasionally. Steering wheel, opening doors, handshakes
Working Environment:
Exterior of hotel with exposure to weather conditions
Interior of hotel, in normal office conditions
DUTIES & FUNCTIONS:
Essential:
Develops new leads and researches new business to meet and/or exceed revenue goals in Rooms, Food and Beverage and Resource Revenue.
Able to identify trends in the market and apply this knowledge to maximize sales.
Proactive in developing new business for the hotel and building strong customer relationships.
Consults with representatives of client group or organization to plan details such as number of persons expected display space desired, and food service schedule.
Have a comprehensive understanding of the properties and its offerings.
Notifies various department heads of arrangements made to ensure high level of service and guest satisfaction. Manage time effectively, focus on priorities, and complete assigned reports and projects in a timely manner.
Possess working knowledge of business development and sales techniques, catering and banquet operations, service standards and techniques, guest relations and etiquette, food and beverage and general hotel knowledge and practical ability to apply business knowledge in a hotel setting.
Execute rate negotiations and pre-qualification, issue contracts, and establish files, process bookings and appropriate follow-up correspondence with clients.
Responsible for maintaining lost business report files and tracking tentative and definite business by market segments.
Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication.
Must be detailed oriented and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance.
Participate in daily department meetings, pre-convention meetings, training and other sales-related meetings as required.
Work with other departments within the hotel to provide quality service to customers.
Attend trade shows, community events and industry meetings to generate sales for the Hotel.
Develop/maintain knowledge of market trends, competition, and customers.
The purpose of the Group Sales Manager is to assist in assuring the overall success of the hotel by meeting or exceeding the company’s expectations for top line revenue.
Expectation to dedicate significant portion of time to direct telephone solicitation sales.
Meet or exceed assigned revenue goals, Rooms, F&B, Meeting Room Rental, Incremental.
Assure that all transactions with guests are handled in a legal, ethical manner.
Develop positive working relationships with existing clients by anticipating needs and acting promptly to rectify any problems; maintain frequent contact with established and prospective clients.
Practice effective revenue/yield management to include wise negotiation and booking functions space, focused solicitation during soft occupancy periods and effective rate and price negotiation.
