We are next door to the Paramount and State Theatres, blocks from the Texas State Capitol and Sixth Street, and minutes from Lady Bird Lake and the University of Texas.

This is a proactive, hunter-oriented role. The Sales Manager, Group is responsible for driving group room night and revenue production through prospecting, account development, and closing new business, while maximizing catering and event revenue attached to those groups.

The ideal candidate is competitive, organized, and comfortable building new business from the ground up while growing existing accounts to their full potential.

Job Overview

Proactive Sales & New Business Development

  • Solicit, qualify, negotiate, and close group business to meet and exceed assigned room night and revenue goals.
  • Own a consistent weekly prospecting rhythm, outbound calls, targeted campaigns, in-person appointments, site tours, and client entertainment.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of new accounts through cold prospecting, industry networking, local business development, and account penetration of existing relationships.
  • Maintain a book of key accounts, conducting regular touchpoints to retain and grow repeat business year over year.
  • Represent the hotel at trade shows, industry events, client events, and local organizations as assigned.

Negotiation, Contracting & Turnover

Catering & Event Revenue

  • Maximize food and beverage, meeting space, and ancillary revenue attached to group bookings.
  • Participate in weekly BEO and resume meetings and serve as the client’s advocate through execution.
  • Where applicable, solicit and book local catering and social business that fits the hotel’s event spaces.

Market Intelligence & Revenue Strategy

  • Monitor market conditions, citywide and city-driver calendars, competitive set activity, and account trends to identify opportunity and displacement risk.
  • Contribute to accurate group rooms and catering revenue forecasting, and support decisions on space release and block management.

Systems, Reporting & Collaboration

  • Maintain accurate, timely account, booking, and activity records in the hotel’s sales and catering system and related platforms (e.g., Envision, Cvent, Meeting Broker, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, prospecting databases).
  • Partner closely with Revenue Management, Front Office, Food & Beverage, and the regional sales team to align on strategy and deliver a seamless guest experience.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven track record of achieving or exceeding group room night and revenue goals.
  • Strong prospecting discipline and comfort with outbound, self-generated business development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and comfort learning new sales technology.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends for client events and group arrivals, and to travel locally and occasionally out of market.
