Job Description

Group Production Geologist – Rest of World

The Regional (Group) Production Geologist is the functional authority for production geology across the

region, responsible for setting and maintaining standards that ensure effective integration between geology,

mining, and processing.

This role drives consistency, quality, and performance in production geology practices, including grade

control, reconciliation, and ore management. Operating as a discipline leader without direct line authority,

the position provides technical leadership to site-based teams to optimise orebody value, improve

predictability, and support operational performance

Key Responsibilities

Safety Leadership & Compliance

  • Champion and drive a proactive safety culture across all operations in the region.

  • Ensure full compliance with company safety policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.

  • Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and field inspections to identify and mitigate hazards

  • Promote continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental (HSE) performance.

Production Geology Standards & Governance

  • Define, implement, and maintain regional standards for production geology across all operations.

  • Ensure consistency in grade control, sampling, mapping, and data management practices.

  • Establish clear frameworks for production geology workflows and deliverables.

  • Provide governance and assurance that site teams adhere to defined standards.

Ore Control, ROM Management & Blending

  • Set and oversee standards for ROM pad management, ore tracking, and stockpile governance.

  • Define blending strategies and frameworks to optimise plant feed and metallurgical performance.

  • Ensure alignment between geological models and operational ore control practices.

  • Support sites in managing ore variability and minimising dilution and ore loss.

Geometallurgy & Mine-to-Mill Integration

  • Drive integration of geometallurgical data into production decision-making.

  • Establish standards for linking geological characteristics with processing performance.

  • Promote a mine-to-mill approach to optimise overall value rather than siloed performance.

Mapping & Geological Control

  • Define standards and expectations for pit and underground geological mapping.

  • Ensure mapping data is consistently captured, interpreted, and utilised to improve orebody understanding.

  • Support site teams in improving geological interpretation at the production scale.

Reconciliation & Performance Assurance

  • Establish and govern mine-to-mill reconciliation processes across all sites.

  • Monitor reconciliation performance (model vs grade control vs plant) and identify gaps.

  • Drive continuous improvement in reconciliation accuracy and predictability.

Drilling Integration & Planning

  • Work closely with the Regional Drilling Operations Lead to align production drilling standards and execution.

  • Define requirements for grade control drilling, including spacing, QA/QC, and data capture.

  • Ensure effective integration of drilling outputs into production geology workflows

Data Management & Systems

  • Define and maintain standards for production geology data collection, validation, and management.

  • Ensure integrity, accessibility, and usability of geological data across operations.

  • Promote the use of digital tools and systems to enhance data-driven decision-making.

Functional Leadership & Alignment

  • Act as the production geology discipline lead across the region, providing functional leadership to site-based teams.

  • Drive alignment through technical reviews, site engagements, and knowledge sharing.

  • Influence without direct authority to ensure adoption of standards and best practices.

  • Interface with Group Geology, Drilling, Processing/Metallurgy, and Mine Operations teams.

Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Track and analyse production geology performance metrics.

  • Identify opportunities to improve ore control, reconciliation, and operational outcomes.

  • Drive innovation in production geology practices, technologies, and workflows.

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related discipline

Experience and Skills Requirements

  • Significant experience in production geology within mining operations (open pit and/or underground).

  • Strong experience in grade control, reconciliation, and ore management.

  • Demonstrated experience working across multiple sites or in a regional/group role.

  • Experience collaborating with mining, processing, and drilling functions

  • Strong technical expertise in production geology and orebody control.

  • Deep understanding of mine-to-mill processes and value drivers.

  • Ability to influence and lead without direct authority. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Regional standards and performance in production geology.

  • Effectiveness of ROM management, blending, and ore control practices.

  • Accuracy and reliability of mine-to-mill reconciliation.

  • Integration of geology, mining, and processing to optimise value.

  • Quality and integrity of production geology data
