Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 10 years of experience in product management or a related technical role.
• 5 years of experience taking technical products from conception to launch (e.g., ideation to execution, end-to-end, 0 to 1, etc).
• Experience integrating generative AI tools or Large Language Model (LLM) interfaces into workflows.
• Experience with data governance, privacy-by-design principles, and compliance in enterprise data environments.

Preferred qualifications

• Master's degree in a technology or business related field.
• 7 years of experience working cross-functionally with engineering, UX/UI, finance, and other stakeholders to architect and scale mission-critical platform services.
• 5 years of experience in software development or engineering involving large-scale data infrastructure (e.g., data warehousing, data lakes, distributed query engines).
• 5 years of experience in a role preparing and delivering technical presentations to senior leadership.
• Experience with modern AI/ML systems, including LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agentic frameworks, and evaluation pipelines.

As the Data Protection Pillar Strategic Lead, you will shape the strategy and execution for the platform and architecture of data protection throughout Google. You will lead the team in the new agentic era, tailoring existing technology to the new world and identifying gaps in our solutions. You will help the team balance existing and growing regulatory requirements with new policies as Google's products evolve. In this role, you will partner with Product and Engineering leaders inside Core and across the entire Google ecosystem. Your role requires exceptional end-to-end systems thinking, unifying horizontal data protection capabilities while establishing deep cohesion across major strategic initiatives.The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. US: $240000 - $333000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

• Drive ownership of Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) by overseeing collaboration with partner teams (e.g., engineers, Program Managers, User Experience) during product design.
• Direct and manage the definition of product roadmaps.
• Own development and secure buy-in for a product vision that identifies, defines, and supports the overall product narrative and direction, achieving an outcome that is greater than the sum of its parts.
• Oversee validation of market size and opportunity (e.g., user-based, strategic opportunity, revenue).
• Lead the team through defining, identifying, collecting, and tracking appropriate product or business metrics, both quantitative and qualitative for new or existing products or business ventures.
