Basic Purpose

At Nexeo, we’re proud to offer services that meet the needs and wants of our suppliers. To help us offer world-class service to our suppliers and serve a diverse customer base we are searching for an experienced Product Manager to support our specialty product line.

In the Product Manager position you will be responsible for managing strategic supplier relationships and product segments associated with a key supplier partnership. The ideal candidate effectively manages profitability of a product line, cost negotiations, contracts, list and off-list price management approval, and profit improvement initiatives. As a Product Manager you will serve as the liaison between the supplier and the organization.

of Primary Responsibilities

  • Drive the portfolio planning of a specific supplier strategy, ensuring differentiated and profitable products are delivered.
  • Collaborate with management and network planning to formulate a product offering and inventory strategy to support target end use market growth plans.
  • Partner with Account Managers to contribute to the identification of customer needs, existing and new product offerings, monitoring of competitive market, and understanding of market trends.
  • Support the management of the Nexeo commodity portfolio of products with our key supplier for growth and profitability, growing relationships and creating efficiencies in business.
  • Responsible for taking a lead role in the building and presenting of Quarterly Business Reviews to leadership at Supplier and Nexeo Plastics.
  • Participation in the annual budget process.
  • Increase value through differentiation of offerings to customers through new product initiatives.
  • Review, build, and communicate financial performance past, current, and forecasted goals to meet Nexeo targeted goals.
  • Continue to grow relationship and networks by attending industry events such as tradeshows and conferences.
  • Utilize technology and internal resources to align business processes, create efficiencies and execute on supplier and Nexeo growth strategies.
  • Support in the maintenance of list prices and approval of price exceptions with sales organization.

Minimum Requirements (Education, Experience & Skills)

  • Four year Technical or Business degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of plastics or distribution experience in sourcing, sales, marketing, and/or technical service.
  • Familiar with product management concepts, practices, and procedures to make sound judgement in meeting targeted Nexeo goals.
  • Previous team lead or management experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to understand implications of decisions made through strategic thinking strategies.
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships internal and external through the influence of others.
  • Understanding of the “sales mindset”.
  • Demonstrated and developed sales and negotiation skills.
  • Strong presentation and planning skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%
