Job Description

Purpose of the position

Our Intersnack Group Packaging team is looking for a passionate Packaging Expert – Rigid to join us at our Düsseldorf office. In this role, you will be the technical authority for rigid packaging solutions (including metal tins, composite cans, glass jars, and more). You’ll manage portfolio specifications and lead the development of innovative, sustainable packaging solutions aligned with our ambitious sustainability goals.

As part of our group-wide team, you will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders—such as Procurement, Vendor Assurance, Marketing, Engineering, and local packaging experts—across all organizational levels to deliver impactful results.

Responsibilities

  • Rigid Packaging Expertise Represent our Group Packaging team as the go-to expert for rigid packaging solutions

  • Strategy & Innovation Define the long-term strategy for the rigid category and drive sustainable, cost-efficient, and high-quality packaging concepts

  • Lead Global Projects Manage international packaging projects from concept to implementation

  • Portfolio Optimization Standardize and improve the rigid packaging portfolio across all markets

  • Technical Leadership Own technical specifications, validate new developments, and provide documentation and best practices

  • Trend Monitoring Stay ahead of industry innovations and identify opportunities for sustainable packaging solutions

Requirements

  • Technical Expertise Several years of experience in a similar role within rigid packaging

  • Project Leadership Proven track record in managing international packaging projects and collaborating across functions

  • Educational Background Degree in Packaging, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering

  • Hands-on Knowledge Practical experience with rigid packaging (e.g., metal tins, lids, glass jars) and strong understanding of packaging technologies

  • Personal Skills Proactive mindset, excellent communication, and a structured, solution-oriented approach

  • Language Skills Fluent in English; German is a plus

  • Flexibility Willingness to travel internationally up to 50%
