The Ideal Candidate

You will be an experienced procurement or buying professional who is comfortable operating in both a strategic and operational capacity within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

You will ideally have:

• Proven procurement or buying experience within packaging or a related category
• Strong commercial negotiation skills with a track record of delivering measurable value
• Experience managing suppliers and contracts across a multi-site operation
• Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building capability
• Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Experience supporting operational teams within a manufacturing or FMCG environment
• The ability to analyse costs, challenge pricing, and identify improvement opportunities
• A collaborative and proactive approach, with confidence working cross-functionally across Group and site teams

Your Key Responsibilities

The Group Packaging Buyer will be responsible for delivering strategic procurement support across packaging categories while building strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams, including:

• Leading Group-wide tenders across packaging categories including corrugated, trays, films, labels, and printed materials
• Developing and implementing category strategies focused on cost optimisation, supply security, and supplier performance
• Managing supplier negotiations, pricing reviews, contracts, and service agreements
• Building effective long-term supplier partnerships while driving accountability and continuous improvement
• Collaborating with site teams to support forecast planning, seasonal demand changes, and stock optimisation
• Identifying and mitigating supply chain risks to maintain operational continuity across the network
• Supporting New Product Development activity including packaging trials, specification development, and supplier coordination
• Working closely with Planning, Technical, Production, Finance, and site leadership teams to ensure alignment and service delivery
• Driving value engineering and cost-saving initiatives through specification optimisation, alternative sourcing, and waste reduction
• Supporting manufacturing sites with supplier escalations, issue resolution, and packaging expertise where required
