Job Description

We are looking to hire a Group Manager - Health to lead the transformation of health and wellness across Downer. This role brings enterprise-wide strategy, governance and innovation together to build a contemporary health function aligned to Downer’s business priorities.

Working closely with senior leaders, the role shapes how occupational health, psychosocial risk and employee wellbeing are managed across the business. It focuses on delivering modern, integrated systems and frameworks that improve outcomes, strengthen governance and support a healthier, safer workforce.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver a Group Health and Wellness Strategy aligned to business priorities
• Transform health and wellness into a strategic, value-adding function across the organisation
• Lead the design and governance of occupational health and psychosocial risk frameworks
• Oversee pre-employment medical assessments and medication review processes to ensure consistent and defensible outcomes
• Provide strategic oversight of non-work related injury, illness and income protection claims
• Govern drug and alcohol management frameworks and external provider relationships
• Lead enterprise-wide wellbeing initiatives including Employee Assistance Programs and mental health strategies
• Establish health records management and data governance standards to ensure integrity and compliance
• Provide oversight of overseas travel health and safety risks
• Deliver clear, actionable reporting and strategic advice to senior leadership

What You Will Bring

• Senior leadership experience in occupational health, wellbeing, injury management or related disciplines
• Proven ability to design and deliver enterprise-wide strategies and transformation programs
• Strong understanding of occupational health, psychosocial risk and regulatory frameworks
• Ability to influence and engage at executive level across a diverse stakeholder group
• Commercial mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving capability
• Experience working with insurers, medical providers and external partners
• Commitment to creating positive health outcomes across the workforce
