Job Description

The Group Leader – Production is responsible for the efficient day-to-day running of production operations departments, ensuring timely completion of client requirements. This role directs, leads, supports and trains other in the production and assembly of equipment and accessories.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Analyzes and interprets project specifications, confers with management and production staff to determine quality and reliability standards.

• Interacts with team employees regarding instruction, priorities, problems and potential issues.

• Inspects products at various stages in the production process for a variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical/electrical characteristics.

• Maintain schedule with production supervisor and team.

• Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within units of equipment capacity.

• Trains and/or coordinates training of team members on specific tasks needed for job. Identifies need for and develops training programs.

• Maintains and verifies team quality performance with Quality Control personnel.

• Maintains accurate and adequate materials and inventory needed for specific work areas.

• Communicates effectively amongst team members and other team leaders to ensure smooth and effective production.

• Responsible for safety compliance of team members as well as anyone operating in team area.

• Keeps abreast of new equipment, advances in technology and emerging trends in production, and disseminates such knowledge to the team.

• Provides on the job technical training for project managers, customer services representatives (CSRs), Team Leaders and Account Managers to ensure high levels of technical understanding are achieved.

• Reviews working practices to ensure measurable improvements in productivity and knowledge transfer.

• Liaises with external technical support personnel.

• Maximizes production efficiency by identifying waste and improvements in process.

• Directs investigation of customer complaints regarding quality, tolerances, specifications, and delivered condition of products.

• Additional duties as assigned.

• Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of employee(s) to ensure goals or objectives are accomplished. Mentors, coaches, trains and develops team.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS



• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience

• 6+ years progressive production experience

• 3+ years in a leadership role

• Occasional) travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required.

• High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.

• Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).

• Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts.

• Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.

• Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.

• Ability to work with and influence peers and management.

• Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.

• Possess a mechanical aptitude; ability to use a large variety of hand tools and basic knowledge of power tools, forklifts, welding equipment, and cutting torch.

PHYSICAL ASPECTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk, hear and see.

• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

• Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold & heat, risk of electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals.

• The noise level in the work environment is usually low/moderate.
