The Fraunhofer Institute for Silicon Technology ISIT offers a future-oriented research and manufacturing environment in Itzehoe, with a technology-oriented equipment park, two cleanrooms, and approximately 700 m² of laboratory space for around 190 employees and several local partners. Acting as a bridge between research and pre-development on one side and commercial application on the other, Fraunhofer ISIT is an exciting employer with innovative prospects for the future.
The focus of our business area »Power Electronics« is on the development of processes and components based on gallium nitride. The »Advanced Devices« group develops gallium nitride-based components for demanding applications in power electronics and sensor technology. The focus is on both lateral and vertical approaches. The group's expertise extends to component design, component simulation, process development, component manufacturing, as well as characterization and technology transfer to leading industrial companies.

Be part of change

  • As a technical and disciplinary leader, you will manage a group of approximately 12 employees.
  • In this role, you will define the strategic further development of GaN technology at Fraunhofer ISIT.
  • You will acquire and lead research projects from public sponsors as well as direct industry projects.
  • Additionally, you will represent the group at events and in interactions with companies and the rest of the Fraunhofer Society.

What you contribute

  • A completed scientific university degree (ideally with a doctorate) in electrical engineering, physics, materials science, or a comparable qualification
  • Advantageous: Participation in a leadership qualification program or initial leadership experience
  • Desirable: Industry experience specializing in innovative components/power electronics and experience in the research and development of wide bandgap semiconductors for power electronics
  • Experience in independently acquiring and managing larger public and industrial research projects
  • Convincing communication skills, a confident demeanor, and fluent German and English (C2 level) in both spoken and written form
  • The ability to lead and motivate an interdisciplinary team of scientists and technicians
  • A committed, responsible, and independent working style

The weekly working time is 39 hours. The position is initially limited to two years. We are interested in long-term cooperation.
