
The role will be a focal point of Group Insurance activities Logistics and Freight Forwarding reporting to the Group Director Manager for Logistics to ensure a coordinated insurance strategy is executed. Working as part of the Group Insurance team to assist in managing all responsibilities associated with a broad spectrum of global insurances such as Property, Liability, Cyber, Travel, D&O etc. for the DP World Logistics business within the DP World Portfolio, covering regions including Middle East & Africa, Australasia, Subcontinent and UAE, to ensure quality, cost effective and compliant insurance policies are provided to each operation.
Key Accountabilities:
To provide the business with insurance assistance reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts for logistics and marine lines. Where applicable, manage and administer appropriate global and operation-specific insurance contracts to ensure sound and cost-effective cover is in place.
Interpret and advise around contractual drafting operating within internal contractual procedure, providing clear risk transfer implication and pricing advice to the business on a contract-by-contract basis. Escalate through Group Insurance reporting channels as appropriate and act as a referral point for Regional Teams as per Group Insurance internal protocol.
Advise on best practices through workshops, presentations and training programmes for local, regional and global colleagues, as well as external stakeholders.
Promote and advise the business on insurance products, including Shipper’s Interest and Cargo War Insurance, and provide statistics to management as required.
Support the control of Group Insurance costs by ensuring renewal processes are timely and robust, including information gathering and contractual reviews to validate declarations of exposure/data and assist with market submissions.
Manage the consolidation of newly acquired companies into Group Insurance programmes, including timelines, contractual risk exposure assessment, evaluation of existing insurance arrangements, and communication of coverage and DP World procedures to Business Units and Regional Teams.
Monitor premium payment status, certificate issuance and related reporting, producing monthly statistics as required, and respond to insurance coverage queries from Business Units and Regional Teams.
Provide insurers with timely declarations and submissions as necessary during the policy year, analyse and interact with the market, and protect DP World’s interests.
Monitor and manage claims under designated policies, coordinating large losses, analysing claims trends and engaging proactively with the business. Work closely with TPAs, brokers and insurers, support loss prevention initiatives, address insurer concerns, produce claims statistics and regularly validate claims estimates.
Act as an ambassador for DP World at all times, promoting and demonstrating positive behaviours in harmony with DP World’s Principles, values and culture; ensuring the highest level of safety is applied in all activities; and understanding and following DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies.
Provide timely day-to-day support to Regional Teams and senior management and perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
Transport, logistics or marine liability insurance experience.
Minimum 3 years industry experience, ideally within a P&I Club or law firm specialising in Shipping/Transportation.
Law degree preferable.
Strong Excel and analytical skills.
Strong PowerPoint and Word document presentation skills.
Negotiation skills, both verbal and written.
Marine liability legal knowledge, with ability to provide contractual review advice across a broad range of contracts, including project finance, due diligence and commercial agreements, as it relates to insurance and indemnity provisions.
Understanding of cargo insurance.
Strong desire to learn and adapt to the evolving needs of the logistics sector, with proven interest in marine liability insurance and/or cargo. Project management skills.
