Join Our Mission

As a Group Home Worker, you will be responsible for creating a therapeutic and nurturing home environment for youth, ages 12 through 21 in a community-based group home setting. The goal of the position is to maintain a safe, secure atmosphere conducive to the youth’s positive growth and change. This includes teaching daily and independent living skills, mentoring, and promoting community integration.

This location is 25 minutes from Albany, NY.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ability to plan and engage youth in daily independent living skills including but not limited to: budgeting, grocery shopping, laundry, cooking.
  • Serve as a mentor, demonstrating positive social skills and actively promoting involvement in school and community engagement activities.
  • Assist youth with daily responsibilities and routines including homework, meal preparation, hygiene, and household chores.
  • Demonstrated decision-making, organizational and communication skills, both oral and written, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to form therapeutic relationships with youth characterized by empathy, authenticity, and positive regard.
  • Work with a culturally and economically diverse population.
  • Knowledge of group dynamics preferred.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED required;
    -
    • Associates or Bachelors Degree in Human Services preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with at risk youth preferred; ideally in a residential, or youth development setting.
    -
    • experience working in youth programming, coaching/teaching, childcare or other human service fields preferred.
  • TCI, First Aid/CPR certification required, or ability to obtain and maintain certification.
  • Reliable availability for evening and weekend shifts.
  • Must have a current and valid driver's license with acceptable driving history to the Agency.
  • Microsoft Office skills required.

Schedule

Tuesday through Saturday evening and overnight shifts available:

  • evening 3 pm - 11 pm
  • overnight 11 pm - 7 pm *

* $ 2 shift differential for overnight shifts
