Are you passionate about fitness, wellness, and helping others succeed? The Champaign Park District is looking for an enthusiastic and organized Group Fitness Coordinator to lead and grow our group fitness program. In this role, you'll recruit and support instructors, develop engaging fitness programs, build relationships with members, and help create an exceptional fitness experience for our community. Summary of Responsibilities
- Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and support a team of group fitness instructors.
- Develop new group fitness classes and wellness programs based on member interests and industry trends.
- Monitor program performance, class attendance, and member feedback to continuously improve offerings.
- Conduct member orientations and provide guidance on fitness equipment and safe exercise practices.
- Teach group fitness classes as needed, including substituting for instructors when necessary.
- Promote fitness programs through marketing efforts, special events, and member engagement.
- Maintain fitness equipment and coordinate inventory and supply needs.
- Assist with daily fitness center operations, facility opening and closing procedures, and wellness events.
- Foster a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment for members and staff.

Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Knowledge of group fitness programming, class development, current fitness industry trends, exercise principles, and the proper use of fitness equipment.
- Maintain scheduled office hours to support instructors, assist members, complete administrative responsibilities, and coordinate program operations.
- Strong interpersonal, customer service, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and professionally resolve participant concerns and complaints.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to travel between Champaign Park District facilities; reliable transportation required.
- Current Group Fitness Instructor certification through AFAA, ACE, or another nationally recognized organization is preferred, or the ability to obtain certification after hire.
