About the role

We are seeking an experienced Group Financial Controller to be the operational backbone of our Finance team. Our Finance function today is a lean team of three: VP Finance, Group Financial Controller, and Financial Analyst.

As our Group Financial Controller, you will keep finance operations running smoothly, from Accounts Payable, treasury, and the full sales cycle through to tax, payroll, and statutory compliance. You will lead month-end reporting, drive budgeting and cost control, and coordinate our annual audit. You will also play a key role in modernising the function by bringing automation and AI agents into our finance processes.

As the business grows, you will manage and develop both internal and external finance teams.

Key responsibilities you will be in charge of

• Own the day-to-day running of finance operations: Accounts Payable (including expert self-billing and supplier payments), treasury management, tax and payroll
• Own the full sales cycle: customer invoicing, usage reporting, deferred revenue, credit control (through Chaser) and revenue reconciliation
• Oversee Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable bookkeeping across our multi-entity, multi-currency group (Xero / Spendesk)
• Lead the month-end close and monthly management reporting, including KPIs and the Finance Monthly Review Deck
• Drive controlling: budgeting, variance analysis and cost control
• Support the VP Finance on finance strategy, in particular cash forecasting and business planning. This includes working with Account Management and New Business Sales to forecast the timing of renewals and new sales
• Implement automation and "agentification" of finance processes, and keep improving accuracy, efficiency and cost across the function
• Coordinate and lead the annual financial audit, acting as the main point of contact for external auditors
• Ensure statutory compliance across the group
• Provide financial analysis and insights to support management decision-making
• Lead and coach the team

About you

You are a great fit if you have 5–10 years of finance experience, including time in audit ideally at a Big 4 firm, and you are comfortable owning finance processes end-to-end in a lean team. You combine strong technical accounting skills with a hands-on, practical approach, and you enjoy finding better and more automated ways of working.

Ideally, you have experience in a growing business. You should be adaptable, enjoy tackling new problems, and be a strong problem solver. You communicate clearly with people inside and outside the organisation, learn new software and systems quickly, and are confident building scalable processes and developing people.

Requirements to succeed in this role

• Degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration (ADE) or equivalent
• A professional qualification such as ACCA (strong plus)
• 5–10 years of total experience, including audit experience ideally at a Big 4 firm
• Proven experience owning month-end close, management reporting, budgeting, and variance analysis
• Familiarity with multi-currency and multi-entity accounting (we have a parent company and three subsidiaries)
• Experience with treasury, tax, payroll, and statutory compliance
• A track record of driving process improvement and automation, with a strong interest in AI and agent-based tools
• Experience managing or coaching team members
• Experience with data analysis and reporting (Google Looker Studio desirable but not essential)
• Experience in a fast-paced startup or scale-up environment (preferred)
• Excellent written and spoken English
