Job Description

Provide direct prevention services to individuals, schools and communities. Engage community members through outreach and education in order to increase awareness and decrease stigma of mental health issues. Facilitate educational groups utilizing approved curriculum.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Experience

Tier I: Bachelor's degree in human services or related Field OR 30 semesters/45 quarter units of completed college coursework (half of which must be upper division) in behavioral science AND at least 1 year of related work experience

Tier II: Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field AND 2 years of equivalent work experience OR 30 semesters/45 quarter units of completed college coursework (half of which must be upper division) in behavioral science AND at least 4 years of equivalent work experience

Tier III: Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field AND 4 years of equivalent work experience OR 30 semesters/45 quarter units of completed college coursework (half of which must be upper division) in behavioral science AND at least 6 years of equivalent work experience

Tier IV: Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field AND 6 years of equivalent work experience OR 30 semesters/45 quarter units of completed college coursework (half of which must be upper division) in behavioral science AND at least 8 years of equivalent work experience

Licensure, Registration, Certification

  1. Valid CA driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.
  2. Completion of CPR/First Aid/ProACT certification within the first thirty (30) days of employment.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to author and produce their own emails, letters, reports and other documents in a professional manner. That is, documents and correspondence should be relatively free of grammar and spelling errors.”
  • Ability to interact professionally and effectively with all levels of employees within the organization, to include peers, co-workers and supervisors.
  • Must be detail oriented and have the ability to complete documentation in a timely manner.
  • Excellent time management, organizational and follow through skills.
  • Ability to appear to work every day and on time. Must have reliable transportation as travel up to 2 hours between office locations and within the community is required.
  • Ability to follow directions from a supervisor.
  • Ability to understand and follow posted, printed and/or electronic work rules and procedures.
  • Ability to accept constructive criticism in a respectful, open and interactive manner.
  • Experience working with people over the phone.
  • Must have the ability to perform efficiently and effectively with multiple interruptions.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and maintain positive relationship with assigned school and meet productivity standards.
  • Facilitate average of 16 classes per week
  • Participate in outreach events such as resource fairs- this may require weekend or evening hours.
  • Complete required documentation and paperwork.
  • Complete pre and post tests as well as provide classes with high fidelity to EBP.
  • Collaborate with team members and outside community agencies/schools.
  • Work autonomously to create engaging and interactive services for groups and presentations.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Located in Orange and San Bernardino counties, the Mental Health Department at SCCS is comprised of an outstanding group of mental health professionals. At a minimum, each has a Master's Degree or Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, or Clinical Psychology.
