Salary Range: $12.00 - $14.00 Hourly
Job Shift: VariableUnder the direction of the Wellness Director, the BODYPUMP® Instructor leads safe, effective, and engaging strength-based group fitness classes in accordance with YMCA values and Les Mills program standards. The instructor creates a welcoming and inclusive environment where all participants feel supported, motivated, and inspired to improve their health and well-being.
Essential Functions
- Lead BODYPUMP® classes in accordance with Les Mills choreography, music, and coaching guidelines.
- Deliver safe, effective, and engaging workouts for participants of all fitness levels.
- Demonstrate proper technique and provide clear cues, options, and modifications.
- Create a welcoming, inclusive, and motivating class atmosphere aligned with YMCA core values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
- Build relationships with members and encourage continued participation in YMCA programs.
- Arrive early to set up equipment and remain after class to assist participants and answer questions.
- Ensure equipment is used properly, cleaned, and returned to its designated area after class.
- Monitor participant safety and respond appropriately to injuries or incidents.
- Communicate class updates, concerns, or needs to the Group Exercise Director.
- Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and continuing education.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Current Les Mills BODYPUMP® Instructor Certification or ability to get within 60 days of employment.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification (required).
- Minimum age of 18.
- Previous group exercise instruction or fitness experience preferred.
- Ability to safely demonstrate exercises and proper lifting technique.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong communication and motivational skills.
- Ability to create a positive, inclusive, and welcoming environment.
- Knowledge of strength training principles and proper form.
- Ability to modify exercises for different fitness levels and needs.
- Dependable, punctual, and professional.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lead and demonstrate a 45–60 minute strength-based class.
- Ability to lift and move weights and equipment.
- Ability to stand, bend, reach, and perform repetitive movements.
