Level Entry Job Location Park Fitness - Highland Park, IL 60035 Position Type Part Time Education Level High School / GED Salary Range $20.00 - $50.00 Hourly

To teach a safe structured exercise class to members of various abilities.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead structured exercise classes (kickboxing, step, hi/lo yoga, pilates, muscle conditioning, water aerobics).
  • Assist with the maintenance of exercise equipment (body jars, stability balls, rubber tubing, hand weights).
  • Offer useful, tactful, and safe advice to individuals regarding their exercise program and/or use of equipment.
  • Enforce all facility and program policies.
  • Ability to conduct safe and effective exercise classes.
  • Experience teaching aerobics to various groups.
  • An understanding of strength training and cardiovascular exercise.
  • Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology.
  • Ability to assist individuals in developing safe and effective exercise program.
  • Good communication skills.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has direct supervisory responsibility for all Group Exercise Instructors.



Qualifications

Education and/or

Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Instructors must have primary group exercise certifications from one of the following: ACE, AFFA, ACSM, NETA, AEA, IFTA, SCW.

Wage Range: $20.00-$50.00 per hour- Based on qualifications

Classification: Part Time, non-exempt

Schedule: Must have flexible schedule with ability to teach evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds.

Working Conditions: The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
