Job Description

SCHEDULE Position will work 19 hours/week, generally between 8am-5pm, Monday - Saturday. Flexibility available for academic needs.

NOTE This is a regular year-round part-time position.

The Group Exercise Coordinator is a part-time position responsible for providing a safe and effective exercise environment for Members and Guests through supervision of group exercise programs, completion of contracts for group exercise instructors and a focus on establishing a schedule for group exercise and coordination of the instructors.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Meet monthly schedule and calendar deadlines to ensure the success of the group exercise program.
2. Provide supervision of the group exercise instructors and their programs.
3. Coordinate classes, scheduling, and hire & manage contract instructors for all group exercise classes.
4. Instruct group exercise classes if instructor is not available
5. Ensure that all exercise areas and equipment are in safe and effective working condition, including cleanliness being maintained to The Keller Pointe standards.
6. Connect Guests to other Guests through ongoing contact and promotion of The Keller Pointe activities.
7. Conduct oneself at all times in a manner of professionalism that aligns with the values, philosophies and standards of The Keller Pointe. This includes wearing The Keller Pointe approved uniform and nametag.
8. Attend all scheduled employee meetings.
9. Adhere to all of the various written mandatory standards of operation, policies, procedures, manuals, memos, oral instructions, etc.
10. Arrive to work on time, every day as scheduled.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Ability to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
2. Perform other tasks as needed or directed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Minimum of two years’ experience in the fitness or exercise industry.
2. Minimum of two years’ experience teaching group exercise.
3. Ability to prioritize effectively.
4. Ability to demonstrate professional public relations skills, effective interpersonal and communication skills.
5. Current Infant/Child/Adult/CPR and First Aid with AED certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association or ability to obtain upon employment offer.
6. Certification from national organization such as ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine), ACE (American Council on Exercise), NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine), National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA), etc. preferred.
7. No visible tattoos or unnatural hair color. No piercings to be worn visible during shift.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The indoor environment provides for a safe and healthy work environment and is smoke and drug free. Occasionally, it may be wet humid, as well as moderately loud. The outdoor work environment may result in exposure to extreme weather conditions such as heat, cold, and humidity.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally standing for long periods of time. Must be able to see, speak, and hear. Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance if necessary. When spotting participants lifting heavy weights, trainers will ask for assistance from fellow co-workers if they feel they cannot perform the task alone.
