Job Description

Group Director Cabrini Research Institute 0.4 FTE

Lead innovation. Expand clinical trials. Improve patient outcomes.

We are seeking an outstanding leader to drive the growth and impact of our Research Institute, with a strong focus on expanding clinical trials and translating research into exceptional patient care.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will lead the Institute's strategy, build research partnerships, increase research and industry funding, and position the organisation as a leading centre for clinical trials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic direction of the Research Institute
  • Grow clinical trial activity and patient participation across the organisation.
  • Develop partnerships with universities, industry and research organisations.
  • Secure grants, philanthropic support and industry-sponsored research.
  • Foster collaboration between clinicians and researchers to accelerate innovation.
  • Ensure excellence in research governance, ethics and compliance.

Key Skills

The successful candidate will bring:

  • A research doctorate e.g. PhD or MD by research or equivalent qualification.
  • A strong record in clinical trials, research leadership and strategic partnerships.
  • Executive leadership experience in healthcare, research or academia.
  • Success in securing research funding and building high-performing teams.

Cabrini is owned and operated by the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus who came to Australia in 1948 to take over the management of a 45-bed community hospital named St Benedict’s. Cabrini now has more than 800 beds and a comprehensive range of health services. There are acute facilities at Malvern and Brighton. The Cabrini Institute supports education and research, in order to continually improve the quality of care and educate tomorrow’s health professionals.
