The opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced data management professional to lead the implementation and uplift of QBE’s enterprise-wide data management framework. Working across Group and Divisional teams, you’ll help ensure data standards are embedded consistently, supporting stronger data quality, governance, risk management and regulatory compliance across the organisation.
Your new role
As the Group Data Management Lead, you’ll act as a subject matter expert and custodian of QBE’s data management policy and standards, helping to improve data management hygiene across the enterprise. This is a highly visible role where you’ll partner with senior stakeholders across Business Divisions and Corporate Functions, including Data, Technology, Privacy, and Risk teams, to drive governance, risk, and compliance.
Key responsibilities:
Lead the implementation and ongoing adoption of QBE's Data Management Policy, standards and operating model across Divisions and Group Functions.
Act as the enterprise subject matter expert for data management, providing guidance across metadata, data lineage, data quality, data issue management, and master/reference data.
Establish, monitor and improve data management compliance measures, KPIs and reporting to drive greater transparency and accountability across the organisation.
Prepare and deliver consolidated compliance and governance reporting for executive stakeholders, risk committees and governance forums.
Partner with Business, Technology, Risk, Compliance and Privacy teams to embed data management requirements and support enterprise-wide alignment.
Support the development, standardisation and uplift of data management risks and controls, ensuring alignment with enterprise policy and governance requirements.
Oversee compliance with data quality, metadata, lineage and data issue management standards, ensuring effective monitoring, reporting and remediation of identified issues.
Drive clear ownership and accountability across key data management roles, including Data Owners, Data Stewards and Data Custodians.
Lead governance forums and working groups to improve visibility, prioritisation and resolution of data management risks, gaps and implementation challenges.
Review data quality and issue remediation activities, escalating material risks, systemic concerns and unresolved actions where required.
Support audit, assurance and compliance activities through effective evidence management, key control testing, issue tracking, and implementation reporting
Drive continuous improvement across QBE's data management framework, tooling, reporting and governance practices to strengthen enterprise data capabilities.

About you
You are an experienced data management professional who can combine deep subject matter expertise with strong stakeholder influence and practical delivery. You’re comfortable operating in a complex, fast-moving environment, can quickly get across priorities, and know how to support teams while also holding the line on standards, ownership and accountability.
What we’re looking for:
Significant experience in data management, data governance or data risk within a complex, enterprise environment.
Strong expertise across key data management disciplines, including metadata management, data lineage, data quality, data issue management and master/reference data.
Experience developing governance reporting, compliance frameworks, KPIs and executive-level reporting for senior stakeholders.
Proven ability to influence, challenge and engage senior stakeholders while driving accountability and outcomes.
Practical understanding of data architecture, data lifecycle processes and data management tooling.
Experience in insurance, financial services, or similarly regulated environments, including alignment to APRA-style governance and risk expectations, is desirable.
Familiarity with enterprise data governance platforms such as Collibra, Ataccama or similar tools.
A proactive, improvement-focused mindset with the ability to bring fresh thinking, challenge the status quo and help shape future ways of working.
