Our Group Procurement function is leading a significant transformation to create enterprise-wide capability, unlock value at scale and strengthen how we partner across the business. This is an exciting opportunity to join that journey and help shape the future of procurement at BlueScope

As Group Category Manager – Equipment & MRO, you will establish and lead BlueScope’s enterprise-wide category management capability across a portfolio valued at approximately AUD $1.0B–$1.4B. Working across multiple regions, businesses and manufacturing operations, you will develop and execute category strategies that drive standardisation, supplier performance, value delivery and supply resilience

Partnering closely with maintenance, engineering, reliability, manufacturing and procurement teams, you will influence how critical MRO and equipment categories are sourced and managed across the enterprise. You'll play a key role in defining governance, scaling proven value levers and building a world-class category capability.

This role can be based in Port Kembla, Sydney (Mascot) or Melbourne (CBD)

The Role

Partnering closely with maintenance, engineering, reliability, manufacturing and procurement teams, you will influence how critical MRO and equipment categories are sourced and managed across the enterprise. You'll play a key role in defining governance, scaling proven value levers and building a world-class category capability.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute enterprise-wide MRO and Equipment category strategies.
  • Lead strategic sourcing, supplier consolidation and contract framework initiatives.
  • Build and manage a significant value pipeline and benefits realisation program.
  • Strengthen supplier relationship management across critical suppliers.
  • Partner with operational leaders to optimise specifications, reliability and total cost of ownership.
  • Establish category governance, decision rights and operating model boundaries across regions.
  • Lead and develop category capability and specialist procurement resources

Qualifications

About You

You are a senior procurement or category management leader with experience managing complex industrial, manufacturing, MRO or equipment portfolios. You combine strategic thinking with strong commercial acumen and have a proven track record of delivering measurable value through sourcing, supplier management and enterprise-wide stakeholder engagement.

You will bring:

  • Significant experience in MRO and/or equipment category management.
  • Strong strategic sourcing, contracting and negotiation capability.
  • Experience delivering procurement transformation and category-led value creation.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders across functions and regions.
  • Experience balancing commercial outcomes with operational reliability and risk management.
